1967 Cougar XR7 -- 390 GT, C6 auto, with power front disc brakes, tilt away steering wheel and sport console/with clock. I bought it around 1975 and sold around 1978. Found it again for sale around 1990 but it was partially disassembled for a uncompleted restore and too far gone in my opinion.

I bought my first car in 1970, when I was 17. It was a 1968 Plymouth Sport Satellite 383 V8 with 330 hp and a Hurst 4-speed. No A/C, but the thing did have a factory installed AM/FM radio with an 8-track tape player. Styling!

I miss this car, but I don't miss the geek (guess which one) in the pic!

First car in HS during the late 70's was a 73 Buick Apollo with a 350 four barrel and dual exhaust I added with some other tweaks. It was one of the Nova clones and was a fun car. Loved the front bench seat and automatic on the column. Also owned a 74 Nova with a big block, 79 Chevette for northern winters, 83 Dodge Charger 2.2 that was a beautiful black with black interior, 85 MC SS I still own, 89 Mustang 5.0 LX which I hated to sell when I needed college funds, 89 Buick Regal, and a bunch of other project cars over the years.
I still have good memories of riding in Junkers my friends bought during the seventies where doors were welded shut, holes in the floor from all the salt and rust, and filling the tank for $9.00. When I started driving gas was about 60 cents a gallon and then the oil embargo stuff happened and we would get gas on odd/even days according to our last digit on the license plate. Fun times indeed.
