Angry Why I Hate Autospies

Where do I even begin?

Perhaps it's the assinine comments imbedded in their "stories."

Maybe it's the fact that they try to sell advertising by making it look like news...or that they too often run worthless prattle as news.

Could be the fact that they have somehow managed to attract a lot of consumer and commerical attention by doing... well, I'm not even SURE what it is they do, exactly.

Maybe it's the Eurosnot bias...and the fact that they're so far up Lexus' butt it ain't funny.

Here's a great example of what I mean. WTF? Why would this Toyota concept render the Corvette - of all cars - obsolete? Using that logic, why wouldn't it render ALL sports car obsolete?

Anybody else think Autospies sux...?

I felt like Marvin the Martian posting that. "Autopies make me very angry."

I agree with Marvin, they don't have a clue. Toyota can't do anything wrong? OK, so they made 1 car that is faster than the Corvette. Is it a production vehicle? (NO) Will the production vehicle be identicle? (Most likely NOT)

Since they are not doing any wrong, what's up with the trannys on all the Camrys? Ooops, I guess they can do wrong, but it is only on their production vehicles! Good luck to them selling the 1 car for the price of all the production Vettes sold this year!

Going by the looks of that car(?), I'd say Toyota will make "beautiful sports car" obsolete, and not in a good way. Taking something like a baseball bat to it would go a long way towards improving its looks, should it even be built.

Nothing will render the corvette obsolete. It's world class performance that's not out of reach. You don't have to go to Ebay to buy one. And you can get one for under MSRP.

There is always alot of hyperbole in automotive journalism. When did Toyota last have a sports car? The supra, celica, and mr2 were all terminated, so they could make more of the cars that my mom and grandparents would buy. Wake me up when they have another sports car. Oh yeah, It'll be affordable...right?

Not nitpicking. The fact that they try to pass themselves off as "automotive journalists" was actually the whole thrust of my thread.

They probably do that to get people all up in a huff

but that car, while looking...alright... looks like a concept that got put under the heat lamp, and all the clean lines started to ooze into wavy lines... meh

No, but you knew that already. Seriously the Corvette could have a 4 banger in it and I would still buy that before this crap. Just look wise the Vette is a great car, this fugly thing can't compete. Though if they ever did make it expect the camry that follows it to share it's front grill . Oh and just to stay on topic yeah Auto Spies really suck.

Obsolete the Corvette? That thing is as ugly as a concept car can be.

it is funny looking.
it has the front upper part of a celica, the lower front part of a boat, the side front panels of a new Nissan GT-R, the rear side panels of the new lotus esprit, but the back is cool, it looks like a spa bath tub...
I like it. :|

Don't laugh. According to the current issue of Road & Track, a toned down version may see production. And there is significant engineering behind it, apparently.

the FT-HS (Future Toyota Hybrid Sport) is more than just a Supra replacement; it’s Toyota’s view of “a suitable sports car for the 21st century.” Hence the Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain that includes a 3.5-liter front-mounted V-6 and mid-rear mounted battery pack for a grand total of 400 bhp, transferred to the road via a properly sporting rear-wheel-drive setup.
More here.

But I still hate Autospies. Bloody goat blowers are so far up Lexus' butt, it's sickening.
