ways to avoid speeding tickets
#1
As I was driving home today I saw a whole lot of cops then it occured to me why some people get tickets.
I drive over 12,000 miles a year just for work 80% of those miles are freeway miles most of them are spent at 75-80 mph.
These are some ways I avoid costly run ins with the law
I aviod the left lane and use turn signals when changing lanes leaving them on just for a very short while.
I also watch bridges and overpasses and never pass going uphill or any other place where I can't see at least half a mile in front of me.
Also I watch truckers if they slow down something is ahead of me (cops or other traffic problems)
Today traveling in the COP rich state of MD I was in the right hand lane and a Toyota was in the left lane I was going 78mph in a 55. The Toy was doing about the same speed we came on a speed trap. Who got nailed not me.
Last thing I NEVER EVER hit the brakes when I see a cop on the side of the road especially at night they see your brake lights and therefore call attention to yourself
just some of those things I was thinking of during my drive

Here is my strategy if anyone cares.
Hardware:
Valentine One
Lidatek LE-30 Laser Defense
Fairly New Y Rated Tires
Big Brake Kit
State Farm - Level 3 Prefered Customer - They don't look at the driving record
Driving Habits:
100+ mph on interstate/5-10mph over around town
Allways use turn signals when changing lanes
Never drive in the left lane when I could be in right lane
Slow down when I can not see a car ahead of me
Almost allways keep 4 car lengths between me and the guy in front
Pass large trucks with pedal to the metal and eye on radar detector
Drive slower than the speed limit when water/snow is on the road
Check tire wear/pressure on regular basis
In-State After Ticket Defense:
Under 25mph over speed limit - mail in early for 2 point reduction
Over 25mph over speed limit - a good lawyer well known at local courts
Out of State Ticket Defense:
Mail ticket in, if paid in full the ticket doesn't ever hit my driving record.
Recent Ticket History:
110mph in a 75mph - Lawyer got it reduced to 10 over 2 point violation
80mph in a 65mph - paid in the mail 2 points after early payment deduction
Insurance Premiums - Paid Bi-Anually - Shown Per Month:
$ 20 - 93 Nissan Truck - 5 Speed Manual
$ 28 - 01 Suzuki SV650 Bike - 5 Speed Manual
$140 - 98 BMW 540i - 6 Speed Manual
$100 - 2006 Ford Mustang GT - 5 Speed Manual - As soon as Ford decides to build it for me.
Insurance Discounts:
Good Student, Multiple Car, Multiple Policy, Drivers Ed
On average I would say I get around 2 tickets per year costing me around $200. Well worth the price. If I didn't have laser defense that average would jump to 3 and without radar detector it would jump to around 10 per year.

haha I used to live in South America, and there, cops will let you get away drunk, if you were going 100 mph over speed limit, it just has a price over there, the monkey made me remember hahaha
once, over there, we were coming back from the beach I was like 16 yr old, we had no money, only a paper bag of pastry(like donuts), for breakfast, and a cop stopped us for speeding, he let us go away, but he kept the pastry!!!!
the good things of a 3rd world country :P

Just got a ticket about 3 weeks ago, 80 in a 55. (running late for work) The officer was "nice" enough to write it for 75 in a 55. Thats the second speeding ticket I've ever had with the last ticket being over 15 years ago! :bang: The funny thing is, after I bought the GT I kinda figured a speeding ticket would be in my future, I just figured I'de be driving it when I got one. Oh well, guess I deserved it......
