Very simple word. I want to talk about this in reguard to the Mustang.

My faith of late has been shattered. I will go into it later. Idiot decicions with the powershif and the my ford toouch come to mind. WTF was Ford thinking??????? Mark Fields????? I heard your lame attempt on inside line but that will not cut it with the faithful. FAIL.

What is your real stance?

the power shift is the tranny in the new focus and fiesta. So people do not like how it shift since its a dual clutch. It also has to do with the way the computer learns the drivers habits.

The my touch is pretty great when its working properly. It is getting better. Most people simpy do not take the time to learn how to use it. Just like sync when it came out.

All of the issues you brought up are ones where the buyer of the car do not understand how the option works. Guess you can no make the common person use common sense.

I drove a Fiesta with the DCT earlier this year and it was trash. It held 1st for far too long and if you mash the gas at anything less than 30mph, it would drop down to 1st. It felt like a normal auto with a slipping converter.

Now the Focus that I drove the same day (with roughly the same transmission) drove worlds better. I even played with the stupid rocker switch on the shifter to go up and down the gears - the thing is, it drives like a manual transmission, and that is what people don't like about it. They complain about the jerkiness at low speeds - it feels identical to taking off in a MT equipped car. The computer rev-matched the downshifts and upshifted nice and smooth. I could almost live with it, although I still wish you could get the the MT with the higher trim levels. Meh...this is a stupid thread that will get deleted soon, so this is a waste of a post haha

its the same trans!! it learns the way the driver drives. so if it shift bad thats because it was driven bad and its trying to give the drive what they want.

I know it's the same transmission, but it is surely programmed different with the bigger Focus engine. And yes, I knew it learns the driver patterns, but the Fiesta doesn't have the manual override, so there's no way the driver could have "taught" the transmission to hold 1st so long.

I hear what you're saying though, and my point was that the Focus drove much smoother than the media hype is saying.

I had a rental 2012 Focus for 2 months while my Mustang was in the body shop.

I played around with the transmission some. Its all good, works well. Even in 'M' mode it would shift itself if you didn't feel like pressing the - or + buttons on the shifter . Its a nice car with great gas mileage. The only way i would buy one is if it was 4 or 5 years old with low mileage for no more than 7,000 dollars...........

I believe Ford has already issued a TSB on the Powershift since the release.
