They do look alike, deal with the fact that you're driving look alike Chevrolet. No, they don't look 100% same, but previous generation of Cavalier and Mazda 6 look alike. Just take a good look at 2nd picture. Tail lights are almost the same shape. Same thing with front lights. They do look alike, if you don't want to admit, heck, that's your problem.

Take care.

You are absolutely nuts! Having taillights that are the same shape has nothing to do with them looking alike. These cars do not look alike:

Yes they do. You take Chevrolet Cavalier, make it look more like a sport car and you'll get Mazda 6.
So now you're saying if you take a Cavalier and change the way it looks, it'll look like a Mazda6. Uhhh-huhhhh. Like I said, get your head examined.
[/b][/quote]

No, I said make Cavalier little more sporty and you'll get 6. Just like you can take Mustang V6 and with few mods you can make it look like Shelby Cobra GT500. Are you now gonna tell me that sock Mustang V6 and Shelby Cobra GT500 don't look alike?
You know Mark, when you pass 40 your vision isn't as good like it was when you were 21 or so. So do yourself a favor, and check your eyes. Maybe then you can tell when 2 cars look similar (Cavalier and 6) and when they don't (GTO and Grand Am). I really didn't want to go personal into this, but after you did it in every comment you made, heck, I had to do it too.

Take care, I gotta go to class.

their isnt really anything similar between the GTO and Grand Am. The grill is a Pontiac styling cue that can be found in many of their models. Like the Dodge grill cue that could be found on Vipers, their trucks, and their sedans.

The GTO came from the Australian Monaro, not from the Grand Am

My eyes are just fine, thank you.

There's one flaw in your argument: The V6 Mustang starts life as a Mustang already. To make it look like a GT or GT500 is relatively simple. A Cavalier on the other hand, may have similarly shaped taillights but the rest of the car looks nothing like a Mazda6 (other than the fact they both have four doors, four wheels, two headlights, and two taillights). So far your arguments as to why they look alike has been limited to a couple of comparative photos and stating the taillights look similar. I haven't head one single statement that tells how they look alike other than the taillights. If this were an actual debate, you'd be far behind in points since you've provided only one weak argument to support your case. Face it, you've been painted into a corner with this whole debate and lack the courage to simply state "I'm wrong".

BTW, the whole "GTO looks like a Grand Am" statement I made earlier was something known as sarcasm. I was not the one who originally made that statement but I figured I could play your silly little "it looks likes a Cavalier" game just like you do.

I sure hope that class you're attending is a debating class.

Cavalier does not look like the mazda 6, they are the same class of car, close in size, but no resemblence

As for the GTO, they look ALOT alike and They have the same body lines, they are like the capri/mustang, very very close

V6 and gt500 are not very close, same body lines, but otherwise ntohing in common

Nothing? Yeah, if you look what's under the hood, then yeah, they have nothing in comon. Does Mustang GT and V6 look alike? No, if you're gonna look at every detail including engine.

they have the same basic curves, but the bumpers, spoilers, wheels, motors, trannys, exhausts, paint schemes, tires, lights, grilles, etc. are all different

This is the worst argument ever

anyways, the GTO does kinda remind me of the 97-02 Grand Prix coupes, except the grand prix had some more curves.

What can I say...I was bored today!

Agreed on the Grand Prix coupe. Very similar to the GTO.

New GTO....trainwreck...is that redundant????

Now that they have been "modified" ,do they look even more like new BMW's?

Well I was reading the first part of this topic and somebody said the current GTO is just a starter for GM. like "Lets get something out there". Now recently I saw a sketch of the 2008 GTO. I can't remember if it was in MT, Hot Rod Mag, or C @ D. because I get them all. But it was a hot looking car let me tell you. If it could compete with the mechanics and price of the Mustang. I'm almost positive it will take the Glory away from the stang. as much as I hate to say that.

I also have a feeling like Dodge has something in the works to join the Mustang market. But I think they won't run an old name, it will be some completely new muscle car from Dodge, but who knows.

Don't forget that GM has the Chevelle name tag under there belt again, can anybody say concept jan 06. Thats what I thinking and hoping.
