Yeah, almighty and perfect Toyota screwed the pooch with the Scion brand. They completely missed the mark on the gen II XB and scared themselves into making the gen II TC a near clone of the current car.

Exactly. Just how they planned. IIRC, weren't there rumors Toyota was looking at producing a cheaper version of this car in an effort to keep the price below $25k? If true, they could sell it under the Corolla line and let Scion have this version as the division's "flagship" car.
FWIW, Other than the greenhouse which looks very 67-70 2000 GT, the rest of this car is yuck. Would actually prefer the Subaru version if it looks similar to the drawing/rendering that was posted up a while ago.

btw, the ft-86 is not bad at all. but it might be too little too late for scion.

 

I will never forgive toyota for making the prius! NEVER! they invented a crappy car for people to get all high and mighty about thats slow and always in my way. They really found the magic formula of boring and crappy with the prius.

A ~25k starting price for a base car with a naturally aspirated, Subaru 2.5L I4? And it doesn't even get to be called a Celica? Stick a fork in this puppy folks, because it's already done.

 

Yes with even lower Hp numbers and worse looks as a possible Scion, this is DOA or even before. I was actually interested in the car but gave up a long time ago with all the scrambling to figure out what to do about it. Just shows that they no longer make Automobiles but they make money. Apparently Camry's make money. Haven't any of you seen the ****** on the Toyota commercials? What a waste of oxygen. When I see someone sliding sideways in a TT Supra or an old Celica-Supra saying how much Toyota now sucks, then I might grow an interest, at least for a minute and thirty seconds. I think car companies are trying to put those days of cars like the 240SX, 300ZX TT, TT Supra, AWD Celica, RX-7 so far behind them that people completely forget what cars should be.

The reason pony cars are so hot? Because most people that do remember are staking their claim to Automobile history. This just make me noxious. Scion, c'mooooon really?!
