the proof that people are stupid is here. They've had recalls on about every model they have if not multiple for each in the last couple years, and morons are buying them more than ever! Unbelievable.

 

Is there somebody who didn't had recalls over the past few years?

 

certainly not to the extent that Toyota has.

 

Auto companies rise and fall and rise and fall and rise and...you get the picture.

They're just like the rest. Eventually it will catch up to them.

 

Considering their last big fiasco I find the article title both hilarious and fitting

 

 

I don't know man Toyota is strong. They rarely make mistakes. When they brought the tundra out, people said it sucked but I see.more and more on the road.

Tundra is the MOST popular FULL size truck here in Russia, second place for RAM and third for both F150&Silverado.
I would say, that if ask someone on the street if knows any full size truck he would say Tundra and RAM.

I hate Toyota - their vehicles don't have any sportyness or soul. Not like Ford.

I myself have recently bought a 6.2 Platinum F-150 from Texas. Waiting it to be shipped. Love it.


If i'm for Japaneese - i would look at Honda or Subaru.

I'm pretty sure it's true. A friend of mine received last week 08 Lincoln Mark LT from Texas and it is complete beauty - same as new.
Even the bed isn't scratched at all.

I like Toyota and especially Lexus.
I think Toyota is the best buy for people who are looking for a basic transport from point A to point B and who keep their cars for a long time. They’re reliable, economical and most of all – they have a great resale value. Sure, they’re boring to drive (and to look at), but not everybody is looking for a BMW 3-Series type of excitement.
My 18-years-old Camry has close to 200,000 miles on it and it’s been the most reliable car that I’ve ever owned. I paid only $5,300 for it 10 years ago and only issue that I had it one replaced radiator. I would definitely buy one again.

I think it’s pretty impressive that after everything Toyota went through over the past few years – they’re still #1 in the world. Majority of companies would be either asking for government help or be long gone if they went through similar things.

 

I think that shows, more, how long momentum from a well-earned reputation for quality and reliability can carry a marque, even in the face of some serious quality issues. Some of these reknowned-for-their-quality Japanese brands have, of late, seem to be resting on their laurels a bit and have been spending down that hard-earned consumer goodwill they've accumulated.

On the converse, and what has/had long bedeviled Detroit, was how long momentum from a well-earned reputation for poor quality and reliability can dog a marque. Even once Detroit products, Ford in particular, started producing world-class quality cars in the past few years, there was still a large pool of well-earned consumer skepticism to overcome over time, which Detroit and Ford have been doing.

My 1990 tempo I had for 6yrs had around 190,000. regular maint still on original suspension parts. step dad '92 bronco over 200,000 regular maint, minor repairs traded for '06 F-150 which has over 100,000 regular maint no service issues. My mothers '01 LS had well over 150,00 my brother was driving it for 2 yrs until he just traded it in.

My mother in law drives from central MA to Boston for work. she keeps her cars until they are driven into the ground and buys american. she had a '94 Taurus with over 200,000 until the tranny died, got another taurus put another 100,000+ on and so and so on. current chevy ( i know) impala has close to 100grand w/o any service issues just regular maint.

lets see next...my wife drives 45miles one way to work. We pile miles on her car aslo 20+k a year easy. when we trade them in they have an easy 150,000+. our current MKZ has close to 80K and only has needed reg. maint. we have had a few explorers that had warranty issues but they never left on the side of the road.

I buy american and more people should trust american cars. they are just has good and even better than the imports imo, but then again what do I know.
