Toyota surpasses GM as No.1 automaker in the US

the topic title is not the best so I appologize for that.

Sad really that it had to come to this, doesn't change my opinion any (Toyota is still the worst auto maker based on my dealings with them) but the huge dip in quality through the 80's and 90's hurt Detriot and made a lot of angry consumers. Things are looking up for the Big 2 (Chrysler and chery can go to hell ) with quality up big time and more attractive and a varied line up (Flex and G8), it's not all bad news. Though every time I read one of these articles these little voices echo in my mind(no not those kind ) saying the same two things "Death to the UAW" and "Keep upping your quality and prove it to consumers". Not to offend any retired UAW on here but honestly Fords quality/reliability for the Fusion is amazing (even CR likes it) and it's built outside of the US. Honestly the UAW was the biggest factor in the decline of American auto quality and they should all be ashamed of themselves. The big factor for me is if it takes out sourcing to imporve quality then so be it because even though the jobs will be gone at least the profits come back home. I wonder how long Toyota can keep the UAW at bay though?

Well, GM and the UAW just reached an agreement that benefits GM significantly. Enough so that they can't make any more excuses about "level playing feels" or "legacy costs." Ford will likely negotiate a similar deal.

Time to "get busy" guys!

I had a close look at the new Cadillac CTS a couple of days ago. Let me tell you: Cadillac is serious with this thing. It's a great car, fully competitive with any other entry-level sport-luxury sedan from Europe or Japan. If they can apply this kind of know-how to their entire product lineup, their troubles will be over.

Lincoln needs to look across town and take some notes.
