I like the layout of the interior.

How much does it weigh?

not bad. Not my style of car but it might be successful. I'd rather have this than a Scion TC or Mitsu Eclipse.

Although the Subie version will probably be better

I've read elesewhere that the MSRP might be around 26k which would make the FT-86 about 3k over the Mustang. The Mustang might weigh more but if the FT-86 sets the bar for cheap thrills, being RWD, Ford certainly has a marketing opertunity here. Mainly one of making sure the Mustang out runs and has comparable handling to the FT-86 at a cheaper price point.

Not feelin' the Subaru version either, especially from the back. But I'd like to see what 300hp and 2800lbs can do with it.

You'll have to wait for an STi version to see more power if it even happens at all. To me this is still a huge deal for the enthusiast market. Like the Genesis the handling will be much sharper then an equally priced Mustang.

The interior looks well put together actually. Maybe none of you have looked at your Mustang interiors or are numb to it. You may also not remember the last Supra or RX-7 interiors. I don't like the red accents but everything else looks like a win. This is going to be what the Si and Miata can't be.

I respect the Miata but I'd drive an S2000 instead. Same applies here. It's the non Miata, Miata.

Also let it sink in that these will become the Fast and Furious special of the decade. No matter how good or bad they are. But it appears that they are overwhelmingly good. But we dont have much reference though.

Agree that more power would be nice but engine characteristics are still a mystery. Someone call the Hardy Boys.

For some reason I can't wrap my head around a 4 banger boxer.

Subaru 4x wagons are a dime a dozen around here. Apparently its a great engine. But I still ignore Subs because of that engine layout.

like the specs, but out of the two, i still prefer the BRZ. the 300hp STi version of the BRZ is unconfirmed, right now we're stuck with 200hp, with that being said, price is going to be a HUGE factor.

sub $23k will be winners for both cars, but if its $24k+, its going to be a flop.

Mazda MX-5 Touring MSRP $25,500

Direct competition. Seems fair priced.

Not necessarily.
Volkswagen GTI starts at $24,000+ and its still a pretty good seller.

Boxer fours actually make great engines for performance cars, being both very low (CG) and short for excellent placement possibilities (way back in the chassis for good weight balance). Plus, they are much smoother than inline fours. Porsche has long showcased the advantages of flat/opposed motors in performance cars for decades.
