Thank you Georgia for lower gas prices
We have to travel down to GA to get our drinking and cooking water (gallon jug supplies still extremely short in western NC) and fortunately we are rather close. Twice now we have gone down there (Clayton one time and Blue Ridge the other) and the low gas prices almost make the trip free. It really helps. Normally prices are similar but these last two times, about 40c per gallon less. The first time we took the GT and premium was a very fair $3.52 per gallon at a BP. We took the R/T yesterday with it's HUGE trunk to hold all that water and we paid just $3.02 for 89 mid-grade at a Conoco station.

Was wondering when it happened if you were affected. So how bad were you guy hit. Any damage to your place, or mainly the roads and power issues affecting you? Hope things are will get back to semi-normal for your area soon, but sounds like there is a huge mess.

Thanks for thinking of me. Our county, Macon County, was spared the brunt as the eye went right over us. The devastating winds and crazy rainfall totals were about 50 miles further east in Asheville and surrounding small mountain towns. Some towns are simply gone. It's insane what the normally small creeks and rivers can become when 20+ inches of rain falls and then flows down from the mountains.
We were without EVERYTHING for a few days but now our county is 'normal' except for the supply issues. Still no water and many shelves are empty as the supply line is cut off in some areas. I don't even think I-40 is open yet near the NC/TN line. Our favorite driving on the Blue Ridge Pkwy is gone for at least a year probably. Some of the parkway is just gone. The busy tourist season (Fall leaf season) is right now and no one is here so the small businesses are getting hurt real bad. Normally Floridians are here too but they got hammered TWICE.

I've NEVER been through anything like that and thank God for that! Our hearts are truly broken for all those affected. I can't even begin to think about how you recover from all that!!!

Sorry to hear, but glad you missed the brunt of things.
I too have NEVER been through or seen anything like you are experiencing. Out here we do not even see 20" in a year, let alone as fast you got it. We are lucky to get 12" in 12 months. The most I have see come down in a 24 hour period is probably an 1". And our clay soil sure does not handle it well. We do experience flash flooding at times, and I do know that water coming down the mountains multiplies as it comes down. By the time it nears the bottom it can add up to a whole bunch at once. My heart and prayers go out to you and those affected by these storms. This is a real disaster and I hope and pray that you get the help and supplies that you need.
Glad you are safe and getting by. I hope God smiles and sends his blessings to you and yours. Keep us updated on the real stories that we don't usually hear in the news.

I-40 might have limited travel with both directions moved to the westbound side in January of 2025 at the earliest on the North Carolina side and it should be up and running to the NC/TN Border on the TN side soon.
