Terminator CTS-V

Suprising to me, given the hypereutectic pistons, that it still together but that's one bad **** caddy with just a simple swap.

I read thread title and got excited. Thought someone tossed in a '03-'04 Cobra motor in a CTS-V.

Great ride!

Slims, do you have any idea how much boost a stock 2009 Cadillac CTS-V pumps through its 1.9L Eaton TVS? In the attached video, the guy claims his car is now making 11 psi; that must be higher than stock because the higher numbers he mentioned were attributed to more than just an Eaton 2.3L TVS swap. I'd be interested to see what kind of numbers a factory-equipped engine would produce at the same boost levels.

Stock boost is like 7-9 psi if I'm not mistaken.

Yes it's an auto, the CTS-V auto is faster than the manual CTS-V.

My brother-on-law's grandfather has the Hennessey 650V . Let me tell you, that car is insane!!! This ZR-1 version has to be beyond retarded. From watching the video, it looks like the camera guy had never done this before. When I grow up, thats the kind of cars I'd want to haul the grandkids around in.

That was Nick driving, and he did the first tune on my Saleen. Nice shop with good people. When you hang around down there you never know what you're going to see.

Doesn't the LSA use oil squirters to keep things cool? That and a fat tune would help alot in keeping detonation, piston and combustion temps in check.

Yes they do. I guess with that and a tune it would live, but me personally I'd rather just throw some forged pistons in for good measure before I turned the wick up.

Meh, procharger adds more hp, simple bolt on system, and can run 9 to 11 lbs of boost all day, just get the METAL airbox, not the PLASTIC one... (don't forget the intercoolers)

They've been bolting prochargers to LS1's for the past 10 years. (modders, not stock)

The LS1 came factory with forged slugs IIRC, which was the source of some piston slap and attendant noise. I suppose thats fine for the F-body crowd, but I can see where GM would have wanted to use a tighter fitting piston in the LSA powered Caddy

No they use that hypereutectic crap in them all except the LS9. Even the LS7 has them (one of the tuners found that out the first week when they blew one up on a dyno after they bolted on a blower). They did it to reduce startup emissions to earn the ULEV ratings because forged takes longer to heat up and seal. Better than cast but not forged for sure.
