and yes, that commercial does **** me off. alot. in fact, chebby commercials, no GM commercials in general, **** me off. Howie Long does not improve your chances of selling me a Generally Mangled vehicle. he was a stupid raider anyway grrrr...

And Ugh I hate that cobalt commercial because it makes me hum the song for ever each time it comes on!

Since I am one of the resident women let me shed light:

My magazine tastes are diverse........
When I read my Cosmo and Glamour- the ads in there are for Mustangs and cool cars.
When I read my Redbooks and Good Housekeepings- its all SUV's and Minivans..Never a mustang, always an escape or Freestar.

Women's tv and the family hour(Ie Soaps etc) have LOTS of women friendly commercials. Regular fun tv has sports car commercials. :scratch: Am I abnormal for despising family friendly cars?

I am sorry, but targeting me to buy a SUV because I have kids pisses me off too. The 4 of us completely adore my sports car with decorative use only back seats. I have 2 kids, I am not dead.

My sons friend came over, and it so happened as his mom was leaving, El was coming out of her house for a photo op. The mom is in the Ford minivan. Brand new. She has 2 kids as well. She says to me- I LOVE YOUR CAR.(well hades, I do too) Thank you... My husband and I looked at those, but we decided it was more practical to get this :scratch: Which one of em caved and got the schoolbus? TWO KIDS you got there, they fit in a mustang! And she is a normal type woman like me too!

Well, on to it. I think the whole suv/minivan thing has much more to do with "keeping up with the Jones' than anything else. My brother and his wife just bought a new vehicle. He wanted a hold-over 04 Corvette C5 that the dealer offered him for barely over 30k.

They ended up getting a Trailblazer LTZ-Q-M-whatever fully loaded with the "we can do Eddie Bauer paint jobs too" package. The thing was just barely less than the Vette! But, that is what his wife wanted (more like demanded) as the Vette was not "practical"

Keep in mind, they have no kids. And, they already have a 4-door sedan. His wife wanted the car because they have two dogs and both cars should be able to carry them (why?) and because on occasion they have to haul her parents somewhere (um, in the sedan?).

In truth, she wants one because all of her friends have one and it is the "thing" for a family to have right now. Is it practical? Not even if you had two kids unless you haul a boat to the lake every weekend and live at the foot of mount Biguglytallstinka.

Don't get me wrong, guys are just as bad. I was in a business/marketing class once and the prof. asked everyone to write down their "dream" car and what gender they were. For the guys the Escalade was at the top of the list which just floored me as I thought a Vette or something like that at least might win. It's another case of wanting what everyone else thinks is cool.
