Volvo, one of the worlds leading innovators in safety technology if not THE leader has once again paved the way. In the latest issue of Pop Sci there is an article about how Volvo has integrated Side Curtain air bags in their new C70 hardtop/convertible. Whether the top is up or down the air bags will do their job. And best of all this amazing safety feature is standard!!!

Take a look at these specs

Also notice the torque figures. 236 lb-ft of torque all the way from 1500 rpm's to 4500 rpm's. Very nice!

Its complicated. It uses some sort of canisters that force the air in at a higher rate keeping the air bags deployed and more durable from what I understand. It was just a short blip. I'll let you know if I hear anything more.

the air bags come out of the top of the doors, if i remember correctly.
