Hate it. I absolutely hate it. I'm sorry but I really do. I hate the back end, the front end, the hood, and the car looks like a 4x4. Just my opinion.

im..sort of inclined to agree, while the car itself is a piece of work, it looks like the result of a Tracer/GT Orgy

Try and Flame meh!

Sorry it doesn't do anything for me. I still like the roadster. I would love to own an original AC Cobra but thats never going to happen so the new one would be the closest I would ever get to owning a Shelby Cobra, without going to a replica. Of course that's never going to happen for either but I can dream. Maybe it will grow on me.

I like the front and side but that fastback ain't quite right. The Messenger rear looks much better. Of course if I had the money I'd but it anyway. And a Vantage and a GT and a O you get the idea.

GT cannot be produced for the 2007 model year on in current config becuase the 5.4L engine will not meet emissions/efficiency standards. So it will either need a new engine starting that year or it needs to be replaced.
It has nothing to do with the emissions standards, but rather the front bumper requirements and saftey standards.

Oh, wow, there's an obvious thing I never would've noticed! Nice, Blip!
That's an amazing catch! (The similarity to the Messenger) I knew in the back of my head it seemed familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it...

Save your money and build an FFR, www.factoryfive.com. They are the best and least expensive kits in the industry. They are even SCCA legal. Everything bolts directly to the frame. The body only acts as a skin. Kits start as low as $11k. All you need is a 5.0 stang to complete it. Or you can have it all built professionaly for about $35k. Quality Roadsters builds em for $35k and they even throw in a hipo 400 hp version of the 5.0l.

That car is sweet as heck!!!!

A little Daytona Coupe, a little Aston Martin. I Love it! It looks way better than that crap Cobra concept. That car does nothing for the original.

Besides, anything with a 600hp V10 is cool no matter what you think of the looks

I think it looks great.......but why is Ford screwing around with these Shelby concepts instead focusing on making their production cars/trucks better? Why put all that time/effort into something that will never see the showroom floor? Shift the effort to making the Mustang and all Ford products better than saying "Wow, look what we conjured up in the design dept with Carrol."

On the weight thing, 3900lbs isn't bad, it doesn't look like it would weigh that much though.... I just read in one of the car mags this month that the Bently Continental GT runs a 12.9 and it tips the scales at over 5300lbs. I am sure that the Cobra will haul

Also I like the car but not love it...yet. It took a couple of months for the Cobra concept to set in.

Hi, well i'm a newbie to the forums, long time ford fan though. I have my opinion about this stuff.

1. Ford should not kill the GT, they should keep it, like Ferrari keeps their V8 suportscar series, tjere should be a newage MKII GT, and MKIII and so on, Ford tends to go back to it's heritage, but it's options are running out, there should be a MKII GT, same power, totally new lighter body and keep on going for years to come.

2. They should build the GR-1 AND the Cobra, they would be like the Maranello, like the falgship all ocassion sports car, would not beat the Ford GT in a twisty track, should not be as nimble (GT should be nimbler), should be there to beat Continental GTs and such.

3. They should buy the S7, give it an all new engine, and fight the ubber hypercars.

That just my opinion, never gonna happen but i can dream right?

I love it! Much better than the somewhat blocky, slab-sided looking Cobra concept. The general proportions might be a bit Aston Martin, but that's a good thing in my book and anyway, most any big motor, close coupled fastback sports car will have somewhat similar proportions by engineering necessity.

The weight does seem rather porky at 3900 lbs, if they could Slim Fast this thing by a quarter ton.... As for the V10, it is lighter than the SC Mustang motor - not sure about the alloy block Ford GT motor and is a bit more distinctive/exotic than a V8. Now if Ford would stick some version of their corporate V12 to really distinguish it from the V8 Vettes and V10 Vipers ... yeah, I know, it'll never happen, oh well.

But I do hope this does get the nod over the interesting but not quite on the mark Cobra concept, and maybe price it nearer the Viper, Ford will really have a great GT follow on car.
