Hey Rick, isn't that an interesting article. For so many years, no one knew where that car was. I have firends that are high up in the National Shelby Club, and they have been looking for that car for some time. The real funny thing about that article is that I know the Doctor who bought the car. He has an extensive collection of race cars, classic cars, you name it. His collections is top notch. He is very lo-key about his cars, and doesn't want any publicity about it, hence I will not list his name or where the location of his collection is, as he would like.
I am waiting for the spring to arrive, so as I can take a tour of his collection, and that is the car I really want to see in person. Thanks for posting the link.

The Daytona Coupe is a Cobra too? Could anyone confirm that for me?
So there's
1. Shelby Cobra Roadster.
2. Shelby Mustang Cobra
3. Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe (?)
Not to mention the Cobra II's and the SVT Cobras. Whew.

The SVT, Shelby GT-350 and GT-500, and Cobra IIs are mustangs.
Shelby built a Shelby Cobra and Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe.

Thanks for the info. I knew those were Mustangs - just wondering at how many cars (Ford and/or Shelby) were called Cobra.

Hey Captin Kapla, the gentleman who ownes the car is into leaving his cars in as-si condition. I just read the newest Autoweek magazine, and up at the Saratoga auto museum, they have "The Shelby Collection", and in one of the pictures in the article is CSX 2287, the prototype. The car looks like it has been restored to a point, as the paint is better looking. From what I gather, he lent the car out to the museum, for their display. The collection goes till March, so when I can tour his collection in the spring, he will have the car back, hoppefully. I cannot wait.

Really amazing story.
One of only 6 ever built (not counting replicas).

That place is one of my favorite places to go. All of the cars are privately owned and a lot of them still compete in vintage racing. The place is loaded to the gills (during the winter) with 289 and 427 Cobras, there's usually 2 Daytona Coupes and a bundh of different year GT-40s. They have the original ACE cars that Carrol built before they were actually named Cobras, they have the first GT-350 ever built.... it's in horrible shape too. They keep saying "they're working on it" and it never changes over the years..... just rusting away. Anyways.... great place to go if anyone is ever in the area... They're only open on Saturdays, but well worth it.

So they sold the Cobra or? It had a 427 in it with a 4 speed right? Anyone play Gran Turismo 2? I have i and have 2 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes, it is LOUD and sounds SWEET! It prolly is nowheres near close to the real exhaust but it is NICE and it handles ok but has power so it likes to go sideways but AWESOME car for the year.

Hey Mr. Doug. I went and saw the actual car on Saturday. The owner of it lives near me in Pa. To answer your questions, he did buy the car from the lady's estate, after she died, from what I listed to. Also the car DOES NOT have a 427 in it. The motor is only a 289, but it is a race prep 289.

All I can say about his collection is WOW & UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! . A total of 48 cars, mostly vintage race cars, with a Mk II AND Mk IV GT40. Also a Ferrari 250TR & 375 MM, Aston Martin DBR-1 Race car, several Alfa Romeos, Jaguars, Bugatti racer, Allard, Cunningham, 2 300 SL Gullwings, Dusenberg racer.....the list goes on and on, and I forgot the "Lost" Daytona was there. Signatures on the roof from Phil Hill, Bob Bondarant, Jackie Stewart, and of course Carroll Shelby also signed it. I may have to email you the pics Andy. PM me your email address. and I'll sent some to you in the next few days.

Amazing, that is truly a priceless collection :worship: 2 GT40's I don't think you could put a price tag on such a rare collection of cars.
