Love the concept/idea of this car but from a styling standpoint the car is just trying way to hard. Somthing that Japanese stylist have always struggled with. They don't know how to do bold yet subtle.

At some angles it looks really good, at others notsomuch. I'm also concerned about real-world performance. The original Scion Tc looked fairly sporty (for a Toyota product at that time) but had no real performance chops. With this "Sciobaru" I've seen speculation that the Subie variant will have the juice and the Toyota/Scion will be the "volume" model, with watered-down power. You can't put something out styled that aggressively and have it not perform, the market will never give you a second chance to get it right.

Less'see IIRC its gonna have around 175hp so if say Toyota wanted to beat the V6 Mustang all around at the performance game, it would have to have a curb weight somewhere under 2000 pounds and I cant see this car with anything less than a weight just slightly less than 3000 pounds (maybe 2600-2700 pounds if they are really really dilligent). Handling and braking might be pretty good and the RWD setup will certainly make it entertaining but the RX8 embodies those same attributes and look at its general reception; Great handling but woefully underpowered for a sportscar.
At say 2900 pounds it would need somewhere around 260 hp to be on an even keel with the V6 Mustang 0-60 and 1/4-mile wise.
Somebody should beat the product planners over at Toyota with a sack of fresh potatos until they get it.

My Civic has not even 200 hp and it's very fun to drive, it's light and cart like. But look on paper, it's not all that fast. But I'd love to have it in a RWD platform. I also want about an extra 60 Hp. The Golf R will be here soon and it's going to start an arms race. Please be prepared Subyota. Because it's time to get serious.
That picture though, man I like those tyres.

Lotus bred RX-8 with a 370z that played around too much
Combine those three thats what u get.
370z window/sloping roofline
RX-8 Sides/wheel hub things
Lotus front end for sure
Altho, im kinda in love with styling. I hope this comes out sooon

original deal with toyota/subaru was that toyota would sell it exclusively in japan, and subaru could sell it world wide. Code name for it is the FT-86. Subaru is to have a STI version of the car, or were just testing it.
We will see, this is been in the works for a few years now..

Even if the engine offered in the Toyota version is a turd, you can bet there will be more than a few people out there attempting to get them Sti-fied. Interested to see what the Subaru version looks like because I don't really care for what Toyota came up with - more O.G. 2000GT cues, less Scion "style" please. The new stuff makes me appreciate "old school JDM", at least they ripped off styling cues from better looking cars.

These will flood the streets though. And sound like a low flying aircraft. What would you expect from Subaru/Toyota enthusiasts?

Since I drive a Civic, I like to tell myself that the person inside of it is what makes it cool. I passed a Legacy sedan yesterday with straight pipes and it sounded like a Cessna, literally since it was nearly the exact same engine configuration. Plate said "TRY AGN". I was like "yep, take it back and try again, because this time you failed." It was insanely loud and obnoxious, my little straight 4 sounded so smooth. Still maybe not as smooth at my I6, but still super smooth none the less.

I just know some of these cars will end up looking like the fiberglass tub craze from the first f&f movie lol

Some of the design cues and overall size of this could be taken into the next mustang. Weigh in around 2800-2900 pounds and stick a 325+ hp engine in it... Any of our photoshop gurus want to try and take this and make it into a stang?
