GM sent 4 Corvettes to a local Corvette show at Fairway Chevrolet in NEPA today. A yellow and white C5 pace car, a white C5 that looked like the tigershark, a yellow C5-R, and a silver C6 vert. I got a good look at the C6. One of the salesman from this dealership asked me which I liked better, the C5 or C6, as he has seen me a few times looking at them and knew I was waiting to buy one. I told him I wasn't sure yet and might wait to see what color looks best on the C6. He said they want 70K for the C6! I just turned around and walked away.

I really think the 'vette has taken a real step back in styling, and there are a lot of disappointed people.

Well, I know there is a lot of sayso on how the car is going backwards regarding looks, but it's really something that you have to see in person. The car looks more upscale and "compact" than what you can tell from pictures. It's not a bad looking car by any means, but I can't say it looks better than the previous Corvettes. I think I'm going to buy a used C5 for the next few years. In three years the C6 will be fully loaded with probably 10 more standard functions and be a few thousand under sticker. I can't see paying sticker on one of these much less 70K.

LOL 70K! You should have asked him why, when for that price you could go get a used Viper GTS and wipe the streets with that C6! Or heck you could get a modded 03/04 cobra and still save another 20 grand!

The design of the corvette is evolutionary...so, what we'e seeing now is the corvette is reaching its maturity. It probably won't go through a radical change for another decade or so, imho.

The styling of the C6 has stirred up a lot of controversy over on the Corvette forums, just as the 2005 Mustang has here.

I prefer the C5 and may buy a used one. Ragtop, of course.

I think the XLR would've or at least could've been the next gen of the Vette - C6 OR C7. It's much better looking, IMO, but I'm sure not truly a Corvette body style. Eh...

T-bird, PT Cruiser, VW, SSR, GTO. Dealers try to take advantage, people lose interest, cars rot in the lots. Dealers just don't learn.
And they think the buyers are the dummies. Serves them right.

...and they'll do the same thing with the Mustang initially. At least around where I live.
