For those of you who have done the quarter mile, did the strip make you wear a helmet? What kind do you have? recommend?

I know that it depends on the times your car puts down whether or not you have to wear a helmet. I figure with a stock to light modified 05 GT I'll be in the mid 13's which the local 1/8th track says I need to wear one.

What's a good helmet to get?

You only need a helmet if you run 12s or faster and a rollbar for 11s or faster, try a simpson helmet.

I think if you run in the mid 13's on a 1/8th mile track, you won't need a helmet.

Yeah, no kidding, but I doubt anyone would believe I could run a 8.6 quarter mile

Still want to know what helmets if any people are using for the strip.

Not sure if it is local or not, but I have heard around here, it is under 14 second requires a helmet. I ask some local guys (told them what I drive), and they all said yes. The local tracks aren't open yet, so I can't confirm.

I also heard some track rents helemts. That would be good for me, since I do not plan on racing a lot.
