There were many years where liking Mustangs was hard to do and passing them over was a sign of good parenting. (1974-2004 and no, I'm not trying to start a debate but Mustang II through Fox were pretty unremarkable vehicles compared to their contemporaries).
Then again, having fought the Japanese back in WWII, my dad never accepted my buying a Celica GT over a Mustang back in '82. I guess if I'd spent my late teens and early 20's in jungle combat as he had there would have been a Ford in my driveway but veterans didn't talk about their experiences back then and I didn't pick up on the nuanced statements until I was older and had suffered a bit.
Well, I don't know about you but I'm off to therapy now. How you chose to handle it with your son is up to you!

My dad fought in the Pacific in WWII. He has had all Fords apart from one Chevy and a '63 VW. He hated that Chevy and would never own a "Jap car". Apart from that he has no prejudices

I understand the angst towards Priuses. I think I dislike them a disproportional amount to what they really deserve, but I see nothing good happening in that video. Yes, the person was an idiot who crossed lanes of traffic with no regard to what was happening around them, and yes, they happened to be in a Prius, but they are still people who got in a fairly serious collision. Three treated for injuries on site and one needing to go to the hospital is nothing to shrug off. If anything the message here is that these lanes were clearly not marked well during whatever road work was going on which made it unsafe. I'm all for bashing Priuses, but I don't think it's right to be glad that people were in an accident, lost their mean of transportation, and were injured just because the cars involved were something you don't like.

Just to be clear, I wasn't in favor of the accident or any accident for that matter. But on a related note, Prius drivers seem to do themselves no favors for some reason.
