Off-Roading

Not sure if this the right place, but forgive me mods if it isn't.

I was looking at this clip of the Top Gear hill climb challenge
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv7Fo8Cnk2o
and it sparked my interest in off-roading.

It looks like a lot of fun and I was wondering if anyone's ever tried it.
Does anyone know of any good trails in So Cal?
I'm trying to convince my mom into letting me take her Mercedes ML350 off roading.
She seems pretty against it

Do you think a 2007 Mustang could go off-roading?
Like a little trail or along beach?
haha, excuse me if that's a silly question.

I've heard worse ideas...like washing your toaster while taking a bath or calling your girlfriend fat.

When I was young, we used to take all kinds of cars off road.
Mostly old beat-up cars beacause there will be damage.
On packed down beach sand the only damage was salt and sand (bad enough).
Rough trails in a short wheelbase car is fun, but you get a lot of dents in the floorboards and you need a hekper for pushing it off those pesky rocks you get hung up on.

off-roading is a blast, exspensive, but loads of fun! i miss doing it, but every weekend having to repair whoopsee's, its honestly more fun when you break somthing and have to limp home, but its costly if your goin to get into it, start out small, it takes a great deal of judgment of distances and driver skill to keep it going in the right direction, let us know if you try it out, btw my show truck, has been brown before lol, shes not just for show, and been airborne, and also been back deep in the woods playin rough! o man now i have a itch for off roading! lol have a nice day

That was part of the good the bad and the ugly episode.
