No wonder GM went down the crapper, can't think outside the box.

I think its a great example of a businessman looking at his area and demographics and catering to it in order to increase sales. Apparently it worked, considering he sold over 1900 cars last year (in the middle of Oklahoma no less) but GM wants to punish him for thinking for himself, even though it puts people on the lot and moves cars. Sounds like something the government does, can't have anyone thinking for themselves, wouldn't want anyone becoming successful.
I'd love to go in a dealership like that, looks like it would be a lot more of an enjoyable experience than a bland glass and concrete building with a bunch of bright lights no character.
Heck, most of the kids I know would freaking love that place, they'd want to go back, probably end up wanting to buy a Chevy when they got old enough to.

That said, GM does need to break out the brasso and clean house , thier continued mistakes are painful to watch.
Most corporations can't think outside the box. I worked for TGIFridays to pay for college and they have lots of rules that you have to follow.
If you question the rules higher ups get nervous. **** shame they don't appreciate the success from the creativeness of this dealership.
In the restaurant business the same philosophy applies. A smaller restaurant that stays crowded generally does better than a larger space that appears empty.

Just FYI...
The dealerships are paid to have a 'look and feel' that the corporate brand wants to see everywhere. That is why they are paid... it's an advertising fee, in effect.
Not one dealership doesn't get this payment if they comply, and not one manufacturer doesn't require everyone to get on board or not get paid. The bigger dealerships have bigger payments. Even the smaller ones have to comply or the ad fee gets removed. Even things like certain displays and certain interactive features of a dealership mean certain kick backs. Part of the deal of being part of the umbrella of dealerships.
Obviously, the Bass Pro Shops dealership is willing to part with that look and feel if it brings in the customers, and offsets that kick back. GM has zero choice but to recind the payment, or risk other dealerships do whatever the heck they want too.
Toyota, Ford, Dodge, Kia, etc... the idea is if you're looking for a car, you can just look for the right colors/shape, and find the car brand you want. That's the idea behind the payment. Don't want to conform, oh well, that's your call. We keep the look-and-feel payment. You can sell our stuff though, thanks!

Oh that's fun.
By the way i'm working for KIA as a rebranding manager for 2 years and the dealer network has changed a lot from crispy old shops to big stylish showrooms.
See the pics. Comparing summer 2011 and summer 2012
