Next Camaro to look similar despite new platform underneath
Saw this short item in Autoblog, that the next gen Camaro, while having a new, smaller, ATS-based platform, will only evolve stylistically rather than striking off in a whole new direction. While I think the overall basis of the current car's styling is fine, the execution of some of its details and elements somewhat undermines it. A main change I would hope would be made would be a much lower beltline and greatly expanded greenhouse to eliminate the rolling gun bunker effect of the current design. That and a much cleaner, more coherent and well integrated interior too.
Apparently it will make its debut at the next (2015) Detroit auto show as a 2016 model.
I wonder what the timelines for the next Challenger are.

I'll be interested in what the curb weight will be? Everybody is looking at the alpha platform and the run of the mill ATS and thinking that the next Camaro will be a sub 3500 or 3600 pound car.
I think the ATS-V or CTS-V will be a better indicator of the next car's weight.

I Have No Life
But what some Camaro fans are thinking, is probably a pipe dream.
Mustang fans are no different.
Everyone wants a 3000lb 550hp, turn on a dime, accelerate to the moon on 100mpg.

I always wondered what it takes to create a car like that. Once I finish my GE in summer i'm going to get a course in engineering. My dream would be to invent something like that or better.

I think it is a good idea, keeping the retro look at least keeps things interesting. I think how the Challenger and Camaro ripped off the Mustang styling was part of the reason for the declining sales. I understand that people are brand loyal but to guys who were nor car people the 2005-09 Mustang stuck out, as the Challenger and Camaro came in production many couldn't tell the difference between them. Personally I'm still on the fence with Ford's new styling direction but at least itt will be unique again if GM and Chrysler stay with the retro theme
