The new Nissan Sentra

I'm sure it's a nice car and all, but I don't really get the point of it. What's the difference between this car and the Altima?
I wish they would've kept the sentra (at least in the SE-R trim) as a compact FWD pocket rocket to compete with cars like the golf GTI, Focus ST, etc etc. A friend of mine had a '93 B13 SE-R and that thing was a fun fun car.

Does it say Renault under the hood, stamped across the engine? I was intrigued when I learned of the Newer Maxima, 350z & 370z Blocks were all made by Renault. Talk about a powerful joint venture. My ex's 2000 Sentra was the only car I have ever seen that literally fell apart. The material surrounding the wheel well, buttons on the dash, the window switches on the driver's side, the interior, I finally surmised that it was hopes and dreams of orphan children that held the POS together. Thankfully she went with her craptastic car.

Yeah, thats not good, I hope Renault-Nissan isn't sitting on a pile of cash so they can ride out the euro-carpocolypse, would hate to see Diamler pull the same thing twice.

Another thing this car makes me think, Whats up with all these manufacturers going to this "corporate face" thing where every single product has largely the same grill/nose/front end styling?
This car, and the new Altima, and the Maxima all look almost identical from the front.
And Ford is doing the same thing with there trapezoidal grill design that's going on every car. Or lincoln with their stupid wing grill.
When did it become a bad thing for car makers to make products that were each unique in their styling? Do you think it just stems from appealing to the consumer's desire to have a less expensive model that looks like the more expensive model, or is their more to it than that?
