A six cylinder Miata would really be cool

Any information on if Mazda is going to offer a six cylinder as a performance upgrade?
Maybe a MazdaSpeed version?

Article in the new Motor Trend that I got yesterday. It's not called the Miata anymore, it's the MX-5. 170HP with a six-speed manual that is standard. HOT, HOT, HOT!
Can you say the new Sunbeam Tiger.

I don't like the fact that they are dropping a name that has built a solid reputation. Its just a pet peeve of mine that most car companies are going to alphanumeric generic names. A week ago at the gym me and a friend were talking about Caddilacs, and we didn't know what the heck we were talking about, SRX, CTS, STS, XLR, blah blah blah.
Back on topic, the new Miata looks fantastic.
Just like to point out that the Miata has always, always been the MX-5. It's a shame they're dropping the name though.
For a "Mazdaspeed" (god how I loathe that name) edition I'd rather see a RX-5 with the Renesis. But who knows, maybe I'm just nuts...

It would appear that the rumours of the Miata name disappearing are incorrect. I was just on Ford's corporate website and the word Miata is all over the place in reference to the new car. It may not say it on the car, but apparently it is still very much a Miata.

It is a Mazda6 here as well
As for the Miata, it has always been called an MX-5 here, I had never heard of the name Miata until I read it here, when I though "hey, that looks a lot like an MX-5"

If I calculated correctly, that comes out to around $26K. The sticker on my 6 was just under $27K (pretty much loaded with V6), so that sounds about right. I've seen fully optioned 6s running just over $28K.
