New Honda Civic Type-R
New Honda Civic Type-R
Is it just me, or does this thing look pretty sweet?
For sure, it looks better than any Honda sold here imo.

I wonder how much it ways.....I like the SI better....
I just looked at the Japanese version of the Civic, and I gotta say... I like the Euro civic a lot more!

Don't get too excited on this car guys, but according to Honda, that car isn't coming here. That's why its in a U.K website. Now, things could change, but I don't think that car is setup to be sold here (engine and safety items and all), but you never know.
looks like an egg ran into a 90's Saturn, the American Si looks much better, unfortunately the coupe-like version ain't available in Europe. But if I lived in the US ,I would go for even a base Mustang V-6 any day.
That new type-R engine sounds like a dead fish. 1hp more for 600 rpm??? Unless that thing has a monster torque curve (which i really doubt) then it sounds like Honda just blew it.
O, and while it does look better than the currnet Si, it looks too much like a Mazda 3 for me.

Agreed. I much prefer to wait for the VW R32 or the MazdaSpeed 3 (which has gotten rave reviews, even outdid the Subaru WRX in almost every department except for 0-60). The handling on the Civic SI is not too hot either from what I hear.
By the way... has anyone else seen the new CR-V? What the heck was the thought behind that front end?!?!?!
Nice, but I think the MazdaSpeed 3 is going to blow the rest of the current hot hatches out of the water. 200 stratosheric hp simply is not enough beans under the hood any more, what with the WRX at a perhaps underrated 235 (with AWD), the MS3 at 263 (easily bumped to 300 with factory certified parts) and the incipient Dodge Caliber SRT at Nice, but I think the MazdaSpeed 3 is going to blow the rest of the current hot hatches out of the water.

The Volkswagon GTI is compelling with an, again, underrated motor (perhaps 225 real hp) and the excellent DSG, but is still considerably outgunned by the MS3 which seems to have an equivalent level of finesse. The VWR32 is sweet, but very pricey, thus losing a lot of points in the bang-for-the-buck column.
The MS3 is only FWD, but the engineers seem to have tamed the resultant understeer down from intractible to merely interesting and the rest of the execution of the car seems very well done overall, it's much more than just a straight-line simpleton. And just starting at less than $23K and no more than about $27K with every box checked, it's an incredible bargain. And through in good economy and a very high level of utility as icing on the cake.
