I think BMW is going in the wrong direction with their designs, but this actually looks like a worthy successor.

Not as bad as the 5 and 7 series, but still more "interesting" than good. The styling elements are just a bit too contrived and fussy, being very awkwardly executed. Individual styling details are often quite interesting and thoughtful when viewed in isolation, but the execution of the whole is a clumsy mishmash evoking some '70's era Datsun econocar or something.

At least the chassis and drivetrain designers have not gone off on some self-indulgent tangent.

Looks beatiful. More of an evolution than a redseign. Not to say that the 5 and 7 arent beatiful. The new 6 is godly.

The 3-series cars are catching up, good. I personally love the direction BMW's taken with its designs, with the exception of their wheel designs on the 6 and 7-series.

The front end is awesome, but the sides are pure crap. There's no logical reason for those lines to exist, no need for the sculpting other than just because they can. It destroys the flow of the car, and looks dumb to boot.

That's what I think is the main problem with the styling of all the new Bimmers... the lines don't flow with the idea of the car. Bimmers used to be sexy, IMO, but now they're more like Lego versions of themselves. They are dramatically choppy from some angles, and it kills the mood of the car for me. :notnice:

I'd still drive one, though!
