My "new" (to me) car

Since I'm gonna spend next 6 months or so in Europe, I bought myself this 2002 Volkswagen Golf. 1.9L TDI diesel, 101 hp & 180 lb ft torque. 5 speed manual transmission.
I had it for about a week now and it amazes me how good it rides, it feels like it just came out of the factory. Rides better than my much newer Fusion. I love high torque at low RPMs. And 55-60 mpg sure helps a lot (it better since gas is around $7.50/gallon here).
It was recently imported from Germany which is probably the main reason why its in such a good shape.
Although it does have a diesel engine, it also has another engine in the trunk for bio-diesel, so I can use whichever one I want.

My aunt's 1985 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 diesel with over 520,000 original km (~340,000 miles) on the odometer.

^^^Yeah, another fuel tank. My bad. I haven't used it yet since its pretty difficult to find a bio-diesel in Serbia. That's not the reason why I bought it though ... Handling of this car is amazing so it's very quiet for a diesel. Much more quiet and fun to drive than my Fusion.
Can't wait to drive it to Croatia next week. They have the best roads that I've ever seen ... It's gonna be 8 hours of 150 km/h of heaven

Thanks.

The only "issue" that I have so far is high maintenance price. Yesterday I paid about $130 for an oil change. And that was parts only; my buddy is a mechanic and didn't charge me for the actual work.

A while ago I told myself that I'm never gonna buy a German car, but I did it anyways.
Looks like I'm paying the price already.
After two months and 7,000 km (~4,500 miles), including a long trip to Croatia, today on the highway my Golf stopped accelerating past 130 km/h (~80 mph) and does not get any acceleration past 2,000 RPM. Have no idea what's wrong, I'm gotta take it to the mechanic tomorrow.
I knew I should've bought a new Yugo Florida from the same price.

Turns out I bought a real lemon. German POS.

Over past 8,000 km (5,000 miles) it burned about 2 liters of oil.

Now I gotta fly to Greece in two weeks instead of driving there ...

They're actually pretty reliable here in Europe. Here in Serbia there are plenty of 1970s and 1980s Golfs and my aunt has a '85 Golf 1.6 diesel with over 500,000 km on the odometer.

I just need it to last 2 more months and then it's gonna be for sale since I'm coming back to the USA.

Time to store my little Golf, since I'm coming back to the USA in about 10 days. Not sure when I'll be driving it again, it all depends on how well my fiance's paperwork is approved. So I might be coming back to Serbia in the late January or I could be coming maybe next summer.
Golf is gonna be stored at my cousin's garage during the time I'm gone.

Anyways, it has been ok car so far. I had it for about six months and since then I drove it for 27,000 km (~17,000 miles). There is 190,000 km (119,000 miles) on the odometer. I went to Croatia twice, once to Montenegro and there was plenty of city driving too.

Good things ...

- 45 mpg city.
- I guess I can add that's its been pretty reliable. One small issue since I bought it which costed me $50.
- Plenty of space.
- Drove it the fastest at 180 km/h (115 mph).
- All mechanical parts (minus the turbo) are in amazing condition. Its really hard to believe that this car has 119,000 miles on the odometer.

Bad things ...

- Noisy diesel.
- High maintenance price. When the cheapest oil change is around $60.
- Just like any diesel it burns oil.
