More Camaro talk from GM
Inside Line Info I saw this on Edmunds.com too. Looks like a Camaro concept is coming for NAIAS 06. interesting.
'09 Debut!
That;s a while from now. They needed those Camaros out and about at most 2 years after the new Stang came out
I'm still looking forward to see what they come up with though!

It'd be ridiculous for GM not to respond to the Mustang soon, in '09 the Mustang's gonna be redesgned i bet...and the Camaro will be in too late
I'd like to see a real competitor for the Mustang other than overpriced GTO's and some imports...

F-body? are u insane? Just admit it, they wont bring back the F-body

Although it'll take a while lol
The onle thing that makes me believe that they WON'T bring back the F-Body is the price. If Chevy were to stuff a 400 hp V8 under the hood, the price level would be well below a Corvette, and Chevy is already on record as saying that they don't want to take anything away from the aura of the Corvette. This is why the GTO is okay as it is sold under a different brand at a different dealership. Lets be real, if you could buy a $35,000 400 hp Camaro or a $50,000 400 hp Vette, (I know a Vette starts at $44,500, with nothing, but have you ever seen a base Vette?) which would you choose
. I hate Camaros' but cheaper is cheaper.

They are baked to say the least, the GTO does not fill any niche in the mustang perspective. Lets hope they don't screw this new design up like they normally do.

They don't like heritage styling - which is easy to understand given that each generation of f-body has been really different from its sucessor. Unlike the mustang which essentially had only one big departure, the 79 to 93 cars. Otherwise they have embodied pretty much a consistant theme. They want a fresh new camaro that has some trademark camaro themes, but cant rely on anything from any previous generation
They want a camaro that will blow the socks off of a mustang in every concievable catagory including price with some interesting conundrums like more usable interior space while being physically smaller, essentially a 20k 4 person vette.
Hmmm....what else, LS2 - M6/A6 base engine (the vette is supposedly coming with a paddle shifted A6 in the next year or so and the f-body guys are drooling over the thought of a paddle shifted A6), SLA/IRS suspension (although the IRS F-bod crowd is subdued until a new car is actually announced)...ah let me put this into a list
09 Camaro (20 to 25k for regular and around 30 to 35 for SE's)
~ LS2 base engine, detuned(wink, wink) LS7 optional (hope I got that right about the 427)
~ M6 or paddle shifted A6
~ SLA/IRS, cannot have mustang sized tires either, gotta be steam rollers
~ around 3200 lbs, made out of steel and plastic and be stiffer and less noisey than the 05 stang.
~ Stylistically fresh, but must appear to be sleeker and more muscular than 05 mustang, while possessing more usable interior space (comfortably seating 4 people with usable trunk space) but must be physically smaller than the 05 mustang.
~ Better interior (defined as being like the current GTO) with standard things like heads-up display, navigation, and XM radio
~ Must exceed mustang in every performance catagory.
good luck bowtie brigade

Just keep GM from talking to the hardcore F-body nutz and they will be alright. All those guys really want is an updated 4th Gen with an LS2.

Tell me this wouldn't suck....
They debut a 'public reaction concept'
And don't produce it because of lackluster response from the Gen 4 faithful boneheads.... That slays me...
These are the same guys that want 'heritage cues' without it being retro...like the mustang...
Which is pretty much what the mustang is...not retro, but heritage cues.
Its only heritage cues, if you like it....its retro if you don't.
ahhaha
