They say it gives you a 2% increase in mpg....but is it safe? both of my cars recomend 5W20. Just wanting to know if anyone is using it, and if they noticed a difference.

Mobil 1 has always made good stuff, but its also fully synthetic, you'd prob save more money buying regular oil and getting a little less mpg. depends on the cost of the oil i guess.

I use Mobil 1 5W20 anyway...I guess I didnt think about the 0W20 being more expensive becuase it "saves you money."...Irony? I'll look at the price difference next time I'm shopping...

you run full synthetic in your cars now?

I don't bother in my focus, I run regular 5w20. changed the oil over the past weekend and 5qrt was only $9. plus $4 for the filter so $13 for the change not bad in my book.

Yeah...its only about $25 per car with the full synthetic...and I go every 5K miles. Full synthetic just doesnt break down...

Every car these days should be every 5k, when i used to run full synthetic in my mustang i'd only do it every 10k miles.

Probably does save a bit on mileage, lower friction and oil pumping losses and all. I'd be a bit nervous on a performance application, even given Mobil One's good reputation on this front, just seems a bit thin. My BMW M3 requires a special blend Castrol TWS at 10W60 and you can guess that it costs an arm and a leg ($10-$12 a quart, Tiffany's decanter not included, but cheaper than a $10K-$12K new S54 motor.)

The "0w (winter)" means there is no resistance to flow at a cold temperature as compaired to room temperature (something like 70 not sure the actual numbers). Synthetic doesnt thicken up as it gets cold like regular motor oil. The "0" doesnt mean its thinner than the 5w or even 10w just the flow reading that it registered at cold. The high number 20 or 30 is the thickness at operating temp and will affect mileage. Go as low as you can on the first number if you live in an area that gets cold.
