But to buy new Dodge - heck no. I have enough problems with Intrepid. And that was top Intrepid offered by Dodge in 1997, with all options. I don't even wanna think how "good" 1997 Intrepid with 2.7L is.

Nope. I think you're the only that sees that resemblence.
I got rid of the SHO because I got tired of trying to find even the simplest replacement parts like starters and alternators. Because Ford made so few of them, nobody stocks parts for them, not even Ford dealers. I bought the Mazda because it reminded alot of the SHO, only with better build quality and better driving dynamics.

it's not about gas.....people are still out there buying Mustangs, explorers, expeditions, and F-150's.
GM is just trying to capture the 4-cyl market. They know they can't compete in the V8 market with the Mustang.

Judging from what I saw in the past, Camaro was always more powerfull than Mustang. Mustang just sold better because it was more popular. Only reason why GM killed Camaro is because of low sales, not because they were afraid of horsepower war. I like Mustangs as much as you do, but you gotta be realistic.

GM was trying to sell the Camaro with Horsepower. The problem was the rest of the car sucked. The doors rattled on a new Camaro like it was a 20 year old car. The floorpan, seating position, ingress/egress (getting in/out) were terrible.
In short, the reason GM killed the Camaro was because, other than the engine the car was a POS and they didn't want to invest in building a new chassis.
As long as mustangs are selling well, Ford is not getting out of the market. GM is trying to lure the import crowd with the Cobalt, but even that car has a solid rear axle, honda guys aren't going to like that.

I think that's the same car. My uncle had his back home in Serbia and it was really good car. I guess European and American Fords are completely different. He sold it few years later and bough Audi 80 (this was in the early 1990s). Audi was also awesome car. I think European Escort at that time was very similar.

Allow me to engage backstory mode. Well my ride is a '98 Ram Air T/A which I special ordered in January of that year and waited six months for; I've always been a big Trans Am lover and Pontiac enthusiast. My dad has owned a '79 "Bandit" special edition T/A for most of his life and that's what got me interested in the cars.About a couple years after I got my T/A everything went to heck at Pontiac, and lately at GM in general; the axing of the F-body, the lacklustre (in my opinion) GTO, lousy designs and overpriced vehicles have all driven me away. That in addition to the fact that I've had nightmarish warranty service on my Trans Am thanks to several truly, truly awful Pontiac dealers in my area. Which is too bad because the sales experience I received was one of the best in my life.
When Ford unveiled the concept 2005 Mustang my jaw hit the floor. After being disappointed by the new GTO (while I liked the fit and finish, I was expecting it to look more aggressive, and when it did not, I was pretty bummed), the Mustang was exactly what I had hoped to see. I love the old Mustangs -- the first-gens were my first love, before Trans Ams -- and the '05 Stang really harkened back to those days. I was born to a primarily Ford family and have qualified for A-plan forever, guess it's time to go back to those roots. I guess it had been a little while in coming because for the past couple years (2001+) I had been seeing Mustangs on the road and really digging them, especially the Mach I. I loved the Mach.
So I chose the name "GMConvert." Cause I'm a convert from the General Motors camp.
I still love my old Firebirds -- I have three -- but I always need a new, exciting and totally kick-butt car for my daily driver, and as soon as I pay off the Mazda6 my wife is driving, that car is gonna be a Mustang. Ideally an S/E or a Shelby/Cobra.
