..but the other day I was on I4 going east to Orlando and a 2010 Camaro SS popped up. No big deal, until the guy went by me and his rear said Stingray. The badging was very old school script for Stingray. The other badges on the car were all normal Camaro badges. I'm far from dumb (so I like to think), but wasn't the Stingray just a Corvette model?
Is this like the old Yenko styles? Simply a dealership thing or what?
Inquiring minds would like to know.

As I see you're in Brandon, Florida, check out what's close by:

This is the most likely explanation, as there were no Camaro Stingrays. Wouldn't surprise me that they're using the old school Stingray script.
However, Camaro of Austria makes a Stingray line of wetsuits: http://www.camaro.at/en/tauchen/stingray_men/index.php
/or, of course, poser alert.

Being a former Bowtie fan myself I thought I must've slipped into some interdimensional timewarp or something. But Houtex your answer seems to be the explination. It's like when Don Yenko created the Yenko Camaro.. I guess these guys are sort of doing the same. I see they do have lots of Vettes, hence why they use the old Stingray badges.
Strangely enough, this guy and I ran across each other around the Plant City area.
Chaulk one up for me being dumb. heh!

You're not dumb at all- the Camaro owner would be classified as such though. To my knowledge the new Camaro trim levels are LT, RS and SS- with the SS being the only V8. Of course, with GM changing it's brands so quickly lately- it could change the Camaro lineup.
Simply put- the Stingray was always a Corvette trim.

SoCal I thought that too, but thought that maybe GM was losing it's mind and decided to slap Stingray on a 'Maro. lol. And I questioned myself as it was an SS I had not seen before. Big black rims on that looked factory, but at the speeds we were moving who knows.. black racing stripes.. but the thing that got me was the color. It was like an orangey red burnt copper thing. I had not seen the color before. So I thought maybe it was something new. Last time I bought a brand new car from a dealership was in '02 with my Sunset Orange WS6. Other than that, I play with most cars being '93 and older.
