Looking to possibly buy new

Well, I'd go for an Explorer Sport if you are looking for a "fast" SUV. As long as you aren't looking for an SUV that can take you rock crawling (like a Wrangler). I just bought a new 15 Explorer XLT 4WD and love it. I traded in a 2014 Jeep Cherokee (not the Grand Cherokee) with 6200 miles on it that was one problem after another. So I can't recommend Jeeps in general. Yeah I know all vehicles can have problems but some of the problems with the Jeeps seem to be of a more serious nature and not just "typical" new car problems. Just my opinion though. Whatever you get have fun. I sure enjoy having my Mustang and Explorer.
I am aware of the issues with the Jeeps. Mostly the transmissions "clunking". They have update after update with no solution. The same goes for the new Ram trucks and the new Chevy/GMC trucks with the 8 speed transmission. Sucks, but it's a 50/50 shot you get a bad one. I guess I'm rolling the dice, but I don't like that. I don't like taking chances. lol
I appreciate your post. Enjoy your Explorer.

Well,......long story short.
I wanted 10k for my truck. They wanted to give me 8,500 and take 2 grand off the sticker price for an ordered 2016 Jeep Cherokee High Altitude 4X4 with Hemi and certain options. It comes pretty much fully loaded. (Comes standard with the Overland package for Jeeps. Nav., heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, air suspension, etc.)
I was ready to sign papers and put a deposit down today I told him. Still no deal. We went back and forth 3 times. The third strike was his final "out". LOL I shook his hand and thanked him for his time and effort. He was really bummed out. He walked me all the way back to my truck, talking.
On a side note; they did have a 2015 Jeep SRT out front. WOW! I haven't seen the WK2 model in person up close and I was blown away. BAD ***! That thing is beastly. I think I may wait till next year and "HOPEFULLY" order one in the late Spring. That is what I had my heart set on from the start anyways.

Yes,...they emailed me last week and said that the 2 Jeeps that are similar to the one I was interested in came in. (They tried to sell me the ones they had coming in, but I didn't want those specific colors.) I told them straight up,...10k for my truck still. Never heard back. I bet they cave at the end of the month.
If not,....I always have back-up plans!

Well,......if all goes well tomorrow, I'll be trading in my '05 Ram 1500 4X4 Daytona regular cab/shortbed for a '16 Ram 1500 Sport 4X4, regular cab/shortbed. (I'm ordering it in white and with some options, such as 3.92 gears and sport hood to name a few. I guess not actually trading it in till the new one comes in. ) I want 8K for my truck which they said they would do last time I was there in September, so well see how it goes. I plan on putting $0 down on this vehicle as well and just roll all taxes and all that good stuff into one lump sum. Payment will still be low enough for me to put money back into my savings or just pay this one off sooner than later, whichever I choose.
I don't really need a new truck per say, but it will be nice to have the remote start and heated seats for the winter months. Plus, I do have some rust on the tail gate and rear bumper, which has been bugging me for a while now. Also, a little hole in the driver's seat.
Wish me luck.

This is what it looks like.
(Not the actual truck, but identical in exterior looks minus the bed cover.)

Nice truck! Hope all goes as planned. Are you getting a 2016 or are they locating one for you?

I just did a search for one and I didn't find one within 100 miles. Plus, I want a certain color, white, and certain options. It's just easier to place an order for a 2016.

So is Santa bringing this to you or will it even arrive before the end of the year?

Just got back from the dealership. The deal is DONE! I should have it mid-December. The salesman did say that some trucks get done quicker than cars. (I didn't ask why that was.) So yeah,...I'm pretty amped up about it.
Some of the options went up in price for the 2016 model. Not by much though. About 25-50 dollars. I added 9 options to my build.
I got 8k for my truck, which is killer for a 10 year old truck, and 2k in rebates. Smoking deal. If the rebates go up, then I will be honored the higher rebate regardless. (It's a law here in MA)

Thanks Mark. I appreciate that. It's really a sharp looking truck and moves out too. 395 HP and 410lbs. of TQ. (regular cab/shortbed = light truck.)
10K off the total sticker price, so I had to jump all over that. I really wanted to buy it in the spring, but didn't want to lose out on that 10K discount. I was planning to buy the new Raptor when it comes out, but I didn't want to wait another year.
Now, I play the "waiting game".

The truck I have now is a regular cab and I wanted another regular cab/shortbed. Most dealerships don't have them as most folks want a crew cab or supercrew. (Part of the reason why I ordered this truck, none around. lol Plus, I wanted white and I wanted to build/option it the way I wanted it.) I don't have any kids to haul around. Just my butt to work to pay for all the toys! LOL
I'll probably be adding a cat back exhaust in the spring. Stock is too quiet. lol I'm currently liking the Flowmaster (SLOWMASTER lol ) Outlaws. Not sure which one yet. If all went well today, the order should have been placed today. Now,....the waiting game.
(I am still driving my current truck, I don't "officially" trade it in till I get the new one.)

Thanks Darren. I appreciate that.
The first mods are going to be 2" lowering springs in the rear, to level it off, and MAYBE?? a Flowmaster, (Slowmaster lol ) cat back exhaust. Stock is too quiet. (So far, Flowmaster is the only exhaust I'm digging right now. I heard a bunch on Youtube. I might do Borla again too. We'll see.) I'm not going to go nuts, because there's always a new Mustang coming out, so I'm not going to sink a lot of money into the daily driver. It's a pretty quick truck in stock form. 395 HP and 410 lbs. of torque in a small truck like that will move out.
I'll have those mods done in the spring of 2016 with my buddies that own the shop.

Flowmaster Outlaw Series or American Thunder. Maybe the 40 series muffler? I still have time to decide. I don't care about interior drone at all.
The best part of Flowmaster? Made right here in the U.S.A.

I have the Street series, which has no drone at all. I've had many compliments on them. To me, Magnaflow has the closest old school muscle car sound. I've tried to put up a video clip, but this site won't allow me. Videos don't do them justice anyway!
