Long tubes vs shorties (headers)

Hello everyone, a quick question, can somebody tell me what would be the best bang for the buck and performance for my 1999 mustang GT 4.6. I am new to mustang performance so I am learning quickly however, if somebody has been down this road before it certainly would help to get some info, I would like to put long tubes on, and some of my local guys are saying put shorties on., I have started to look into BBK's Bassini, etc., any thoughts would be appreciated.....thanks.!

Long tubes will offer the most benefit, shorties are practically worthless in your application. About the only useful function would be weight reduction.
