Unhappy Letting go of an older car

Hey all,

Some of you may have seen my thread about red with tan interior. If you have then you know I am on the cusp of getting a new car. Aiding in this endeavor will be the trade in or our 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. This car was my late grandparents and although it isn't my favorite car in the world it is a **** good car. I find myself sad at the prospect of letting it go. We have more vehicles than we need so obviously something has to go and it just has the short straw. I can't help myself thinking that a new owner won't take care of it as I did, the memories gone, etc.

I assume I am not alone in this type of situation. Anyone have some advice to help through the letting an old car go blues? The worst part is I will see it for a while afterward because I work at the dealership I'll be buying the new car from!

Thanks for reading.

I could wax on and on about it, but the bottom line is this:

Movin' forward. Don't look back. It'll be ok, and worry not about the car's fate. For if it were a large enough deal, you'd never have given it up in the first place.

It's ok. Enjoy your new ride, no regrets.

How much is the dealership giving you for it?

Not sure yet. I have not actually had them appraise it.

Nothing special. I have zero issue moving from daily driver to daily drivers.

I'll have my 69 z28 till I die.
