Looking to get a daily driver as I just got a new job and I will be traveling about 50 miles/day and I don't want to add that many miles to my mustang. I was looking at Kia's on the internet, any good or bad comments? Any other good sub $10K price range car recommendations?

Kia is just fine. Their quality has improved in the last few years and they offer a great warranty. Two guys at work have Hyundais. Both put a lot of miles on their cars and wanted something inexpensive, cheap to run, and reliable. Both are very pleased with their cars. I'd look at Hyundai before Kia.

How about a low mileage Focus at the rental lot? The one here in Indy sells them after only 15,000 miles at about half price. nationalcarsales.com

Good idea, I'll check into it.
I looked at a loaded Kia Spectra5 for $15K, pretty nice & sporty car. Toyota Corolla $14K, great gas, good name. Going to look at more later on......

Take a look at Honda Civic too, they start at under $15,000.

I rented a Kia Spectra while car shopping between my '09 Bonneville (stolen and totaled) and my '98 Mustang. POS in my opinion. The Hyundais are a much higher quality vehicle (which doesn't take much).

One of the guys at work came back yesterday from a 1244 mile round trip between Sacramento and Phoenix in his Hyundai. He averaged 36 mpg. Not bad. My 1989 Escort wagon gets the same mpg on the highway. A low mileage Focus or a recent Civic or Corolla could also be a good call. Depends on if you want new or used. I'd go for used every time. Let somebody else take the depreciation hit. Besides, you're not buying this type of car for its fun factor

Thanks for all the comments, I'm going out this week. Looking at the Hyundai's. My best deal so far considering quality/name/gas is the corolla ce, hopefully they will deal????
Where's the best place to get invoice pricing on these vehicles??? That's why I love TMS, 'cause I got the invoice prices and was able to haggle up from there (I got $600 over invoice on my 06).

I love American cars, but it's next to impossible to beat a Honda (today, and for the past decade).

Most I can say is once a Hyundai saved my life.
I had a head on collision in an Eleantra nine years ago and my children and I walked away from it with only a bruised shoulder and big headache. The front end was just at the passenger seat it was so mashed in front.
Kias- yuck.

Yeah, its kind of impossible to find better car than Civic in small cars category.

How come you're interested in Dodge so much lately? I have one ('97 Intrepid 3.5L), and trust me, they're junk.

We got a 2005 Kia Spectra for my wife in October of 2004. I must admit that we probably would have went with something else, but at the time we were having a hard time getting something financed and ended up getting the kia. Our main goal was to get something cheap in gas, and with a good warranty. I must admit it actually has been a pretty good car. The only problem we have had with it mechanically speaking is an o2 sensor has gone out. Other than that it has ran and driven great. It actually has pretty decent power for a 4 cylinder econo car, and gets about 37 mpg highway, and 27 mixed highway and city. The car is very quiet on the inside (of coarse I am use to driving mustangs which are far from really quiet cars) and the build quality over all seems to be pretty decent. We haven't had any problem with little doors or switches breaking or anything like that. The only thing I am really not happy with as far as general quality of the car is the carpet. It is the one place in the car where you can definiltey tell that quality was sacrificed. Honestly before we bought the car I was kind of worried that we would have a lot of problems with it because of the general reputation that kia's had, but I must say it has been over all a pretty decent car for the money.

Stick with the original deal or buy a Sonata (will they deal on the Sonata? probably not, and ask yourself why?) , you can get an Odyssey EX ($28,395.00 + destination) for less money. The Sedona clone, whatever, is not worth the money, and at 33K, it is still way overpriced. Resale will tell you what is really worth buying, use your Quest as an example. You can thank me later.
