It's effectively mine, yes.

I wasn't getting the money for the down payment until sometime this week, so they asked I give them a bit of money just to prove I was serious and to hold it. So naturally (with my luck), a guy comes in yesterday who says he's going to buy it outright, and will return the next day (today, Saturday) to purchase it with his wife. I found this out when I went to give them $300, but they said that if the guy waffled or wanted to only give them a little or wanted anything repaired (see, I'm paying their $7,450 asking price because they're willing to fix some stuff for me) that he was going to be shown the figurative door and the car was mine.

So the guy shows up and asks if he can only give a little to hold it, because he really doesn't have the money to buy it outright. They told him to take a hike, because there was already a guy who had given them money to hold it and who probably deserved it more (they're on a first-name basis with me after how much I've examined the car and taught them about the XJ40 generation Jaguars). So as early as Tuesday (latest would be Thursday), I'll be rolling in my '93 XJ6 with WIRE WHEELS~ instead of the rather ugly factory ones.

And I'm still torn on the name of the car. I want to call it Winston, but when I'm looking at it, it doesn't really say "Winston" to me. Wellington, Nigel, Windsor, anything British and/or related to British history is under consideration. And no female names. I don't get a female feeling from it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Post pics when you get your Jag? What color is it?

Wire wheels look great, but are they ever a pain to keep clean! Nonetheless, enjoy the ride.

No idea what to call it, it's like a deep silver, not quite the Shadow Grey the Mustangs have had in recent years.

Here's a picture of the color (not the actual car):

It has an interior that's not quite full-on grey, but not tan either. No idea what to call that either.

These are the wheels it has. They're already almost this clean. When I'm done with 'em they will be.

EDIT: and John Bull has taken the lead for the name of the car.

I see you listed a Jag as your car. I assume you got it. Now tell us about it please.

I'm waiting to give it a good wash and have my friend take some pictures. I just got it today and was coming to bump this thread when I saw it had already been done.

I need to amend that name though, John Bull doesn't fit very well. I'm still at a loss for a name.

Nigel . . (in reference to Nigel Mansell-F1/CART Champion)

Edit: He's a Brit.

Graham after Graham Hill? Sterling after Sterling Moss? William after Sir William Lyons? Percival, Jeeves, Perkins, James, Edward? Now do you see why I don't name cars?

Sterling is actually a front-runner.

Put about 80 miles on it tonight in mixed driving, getting a feel for it. Fabulous machine, and the manumatic really is pretty good. Surprisingly good performance from that 4.0 I-6 when you consider the car weighs 4060 without anyone even in it.

Sterling would be a good choice, especially considering the car's color.

It's named.

Actually had a good run with, of all things, a mid-90s Camaro. It was a dualled-out V6, but that I was able to keep pace with it from 40-100 was amazing, and I even had someone in the car with me. That 4.0's torque is really handy, and plentiful.

Sort of related, the 2005 XKR looks gorgeous! A shame there is no stick shift!

With how seamless the automatic is and surprisingly engaging manual mode (J-Gates are my new love), you honestly don't care that it isn't a pure manual with a clutch and all that jazz.

Besides, it's a friggin' XK. Along with the Astons, it's the most gorgeous car on the road today.

Man, British cars rule.
