What would you get?

For me, there are only two options. A 2016 Mustang or a 2016 Camaro. I hate to say it, but the Camaro it is for me.

I bought my 2014 GT in May 2014. Like many in here, I waited for the reveal of the 2015 GT before making my decision.

 

Realistically, I would try and snag a GT350R once the hype dies down or a Corvette. I would love a Aston Martin Vantage GT12 though.

 

Ford20...I would love too, but they are out of my price range

 

I'm not giving up on Mustang (or Ford) now. I've been wanting one since I first saw it at the NY World's Fair in 1964. 50 years later I finally got my '14 GT Prem 'vert.

If I replace mine, it'll be another Mustang. I'm a fan for life.

 

Saw the new Camaro at the Detroit Auto Show. It was pretty ****. I hear the visibility is just as bad as the outgoing model though. If I had to choose between the two, it would be the Camaro. Better, stronger engine with more and cheaper mod potential. Coyote's aren't cheap to mod and the stock block isn't that strong.

 

I saw the new camaro at the Washington DC auto show last week. Only thing I didn't like is that there is no spare tire bin. Our Mustang came with an air pump but there is still a spare tire bin. I bought a spare tire and a jack for my car as I don't feel comfortable driving long distance without a spare.

 

The new Camaro is WAY better looking than the fustang.

If I had to get one I'd wait another 6 months and get the 1SS 1LE tracked out version. We have a few in our garage at work. The performance potential right out of the box is unreal. But it will set you back $40k.

 

You can buy base 16 GT's in the 28K neighborhood, well below that of the cheapest Camaro you will find. That difference buys a lot of mods. Doesn't matter to me though as I am keeping my 14 GT.

 

Went to the Philadelphia auto show yesterday and of course the 2016 Camaro was there. Absolutely beautiful. Hands down a much sexier, more modern muscle look, nicer lines over the S550. Not to mention the S550's rear end is fugly and horrible looking.

The 2016 Camaro's interior has improved over the 10-15 models however still a bit cheap looking. Sitting in the Camaro felt like I was in a cockpit and not really digging that.

The interior of the S550 is much nicer looking and the leather seats were extremely comfortable. Really loved the leather seats in the S550 and did not fell like a cockpit as to the 2016 Camaro.

The Fustang has little to none muscle car looks and euro sports car it is. Of course the interior to me is very important because its what I look at for 10k miles a year. I would chose the the S550 over the Camaro only because of the nicer interior and I'm the one who doesn't have to constantly stare at its fulgy a$$ end.

The best thing happened to the mustang and its enthusiasts was and is the GM bringing back the Camaro. Had it not been for the return of the Camaro then most likely Ford would still be using the 3V 4.6 engine with maybe 330 HP. Look what Ford did for the Gt engine from 2003 to 2010. Hardly crap. Heck, 2005 had 300 HP and 2010 Gt had 315 HP. 10 HP in 5 years. Give me a break. Ford didn't need to do any improvements because they were the only game in town.

The competition from GM is what got us the Coyote and Cyclone engines. The competition from GM got fans the Gt350. I bet 2016 Camaro sales will be higher than 2016 mustang sales

 

I would never buy anything from Government Motors.

 

I really like the new 2 door civic. I'd probably grab one if I were keeping the Mustang, and especially if there's an Si version that still looks mostly the same.

 

The new Camaro is a badass car but it's still a lil ugly and the interior is hideous if you ask me. Looks are subjective though for sure. Wanted to comment about the mustang block, remember the 15s are much stronger than the previous models, people are pushing 650-700 hp easily and reliably on the new cars.

 

And that's exactly why I'd never buy a Camaro. I hate not being able to see out of a car.

I'd probably go with the S550 if I were looking to buy new. I still go back and forth on its looks, but it has grown on me.

 

I hear you on fugly back end of the S550. That alone is why I went with a '14. Love the tail lights and declid of my car.

Interesting. Both you guys don't like the cocpit of the Camaro. I loved it. Meybe that's becasue I always wanted to be a fighter pilot

 

Mods that void the warranty.

I saw a new Camaro on the streets finally the other day, couldn't tell if it was a SS or RS, but it didn't look that good in person. The lower roofline with bigger wheels, stock wheel gap, the small windows and the narrow lights and upper grill really made it look like a giant rectangle as it was approaching me and driving away.

I think the 2010-2013? Camaros before the refresh looked the best for this body style. Maybe I need to see a few modded 2016s for the look to grow on me.

 

By what and whose standards?

I happen to agree with Tukatz. While I don't like the Camaro, I think the Challenger is a great looking car. But I wouldn't by a Chrysler either. It still sticks in my craw that GM and Chrysler took bailouts. Had Ford done the same I wouldn't have bought a Mustang in all likelihood.

My money, my choice, my vote. I'm politically well informed, have no love for this current administration and I base my decisions accordingly. I hardly call that ignorant....stubborn maybe, but not ignorant. We all take a stand in our own way.

 

By my own standards and the standards of popular automotive journals that give several GM vehicles very positive remarks and awards. For instance, the 2016 Camaro and 2014 CTS won Motor Trend's Car of The Year.

People that criticize GM and Chrysler for taking bail outs have no idea what would have happened to the industry if they hadn't. GM is a MUCH better company today because of it.
