how to sell a damaged car?
A friend has had some tough luck with cars and insurance lately, and ended up with a late model Ford Fusion (2015 ish?) that has some body damage that he cannot afford to repair, but I'd like to help him get as much cash out of that car as possible. It has a "new" ecoboost engine, that was replaced to the tune of $9K about 20,000 miles ago, after it ingested its turbo.
Suggestions on how he could get the most money out of it?
thanks in advance!

Part it out. Most money you can get is in the pieces. Stick them on ebay, ship 'em at their cost, profit, eventually.
But if that's not an option for whatever reason, well, a guesstimate from KBB for a Fair condition 2015 Fusion 4D SE is about 6-8K trade in, 8-10K private sell. But that's assuming it's still overall decent, just maybe needs some work and/or a panel swap or such. Not a major rebuild job. More details would help on the pricing estimate.
So stick 4K or whatever the price ya want on it and put it on caradelibro and see what happens, I'd say. Maybe bringatrailer or ebay and make it an auction, but reserve it at 4K. Or trade it in, knowing it's going to take a beating.
/I still stay part it out.
//I don't mind a turbo car to borrow, but I won't be owning one for this exact reason. I don't like potential bits of failed parts upstream of the intake valves.
///Roots supercharger? Yes please, that'd be fine, you'd really have to try hard to get those to fail miserably and smash parts into the intake.
////But I don't discount someone can do it, mind... and has?...
