How Bad is GM Really Doing

If you are closing down your only brand in a country, Holden is shutting down in Australia and New Zealand.
I wonder how long before GM starts closing more down in other countries as well as the US?

Hate to see the mighty fall, but they have been shooting themselves in the foot for at least 50 years! Use to love some of their vehicles. The need to focus on building quality at a competitive price. Still hearing a lot about their poor designs and a too big to fail company attitude that thinks they don't have to take care of their customers. Hope they can fix it. We need to keep the auto industry in the US as strong as we can... Just hate to see our industrial might dwindle to nothing.

Regardless of GM's overall health... and maybe because of it... this is a simple decision. Australia and New Zealand are 1% of the global car market. And Holden pretty much only sells there. At a current 4% of that 1% global. GM can't pour money into that anymore. It has to be removed.

Problem may be that nobody wanted to buy the branch. I mean, realistically, who would want to buy a 4% of 1% global market? That's sluggish at best, and it'll cost more to keep developing cars than you'll get back.

Good run for Holden, but time to go night night. Sorry. That's business for ya.

/GM ain't goin' anywhere. Maybe a brand or two is in the future. They're also selling off Reyong, Taiwan manufacturing plant to China's Great Wall Motor Company too.
