imho if a cougar doesn't have hide-away headlights it isn't a cougar

I think that was the Mercury Messenger. A slick car in it's own right.

The Messenger was tight, but too many people thought it was too reminiscent of the 300z/RX-8 type cars. I love it, personally.

Thezeppelin8, yeah the front of that chop does look a bit SN95ish doesn't it? That's kinda funny, because the front end of that was lifted straight off an Australian Ford Falcon. I love the shape of it, but Burningman's right about the hideaways.

I did the GT-E photoshopped Cougar. For those not familar with Cougar's sometimes confusing alphabet soup of sub models, the GT-E was the only 427 FE Pony Car (some "Es" had 428CJs). This is more of a 69 style.

I tried to keep it close to the Mustang as possible but still have some unique Cougar styling.

A Cougar has to have wood trim and toggle switches (and a Nav system these days) on the dash!

I would love to own a 1969/1970 Cougar someday.

Ford should build the cougar along the lines of the photochops shown,

Maybe stretch the wheelbase a touch and a more formal roof for some decent rear-seat room.

This would be the perfect model for those wanting an upscale Mustang, NAV, heated seats, all the electronic gizmos

It would breath needed life into mercury.
