Hew Hyundai Genesis sounds strong

http://www.motortrend.com/auto_shows...genesis_coupe/

345 hp and 295 # for the 6er with an 8 speed auto. Not bad for a rear wheel drive korean sporty car. Also Fiona drives one on BURN NOTICE. I don't want one, but it's no longer a joke if a friend buys one. I'll be curious to see what the future holds for Hyundai and performance cars....

Everything looks great except for the front end ... too much Citroen DS4.

I have worked at a Hyundai/Toyota dealership for years and all the Toyota sales people are constantly trying to get into the Hyundai store. The new Scion FT86 is noce but for the same money you will get a 274 HP Genesis CP turbo woth MAJOR mod potential. And the V6 will be the highest HP in class

I'm curious to see how pricing on this hashes out, the V6 already being nearly V8 ponycar expensive even in R-Spec trim. even without a price increase, it still won't be cheap. And that face.......

Genesis V6's price is about the same as less powerfull and heavier Camaro V6 and Challenger V6.

You've got a point. To be honest, in this instance when I say ponycar I really mean Mustang because the Camaro and Challenger just don't seem to have a truly sporting bone in their respective bodies in V6 trim. Hyundai and Ford have both, thus far, taken V6 ponycar performance more seriously than either of those two IMO and, to be fair to Hyundai, they have really even been ahead of Ford here.

That said, the fairest comparison I can come up with right now would be a base Hyundai 3.8 R Spec compared to an otherwise base Mustang V6 Performance Package. Right now, in 2012 trim, the Hyundai is exactly $2500.00 more than the Mustang; but being fair again the Hyundai wears more serious stoppers than the Mustang does right now and, while I have never driven a Genesis Coupe, the consensus seems to be that suspension development is still ahead of the 2012 Mustang V6. IIRC the V6 Mustang PP will get more serious binders for 2013 (I could be wrong) but if improvements are made I expect a price increase so the difference could drop below 2k assuming the Hyundai doesn't increase in price as well.

A lot of guessing there to get to the point, which is that it still feels weird to me to think of any Hyundai commanding a premium. I do love the concept though, just not the face.

Looks are clearly subjective by their very nature, but this is a clear improvement in my eyes...
