Ok i was plunking around on Sleepy-fish and came across "An Apache attack chopper being flown by the British Army trying to get a missle lock on a Lotus Exige driven by an idiot" (Jeremy)

This video is incredibly cool
Sever is slow but it's worth the wait!
Oh and it's even better because Motorheads Ace of Spades is playing in the background

These TG articles keep showing up don't they. When that aired I thought the Apache would walk it, Granted, it did when it was 2 miles away!
Great vid. It is on my "Best of (recent) top gear DVD"!

I hear good things about this show, to bad it's not on here. I was reading about a toyota pickup I think it was. They pushed the thing in a lake blew a bulding up with it on top of it and the truck kept on starting.

ok... to keep with the british theme... the narrator is a ******.
car weighs a little less than a ton (2000 lbs) and 190 hp
costs around $45k US
you can get a yamaha R1 180hp 400 lbs for $10k.

probably...
and i wasnt trying to be offensive either.
just wondering when being able to evade a missle lock became the standard to measure performance.

Maybe if you're in Iraq that's important, but still, it was a fun video to watch.
I agree that the narrator is a ******. He's the same guy who called the 4.6 Mustang motor junk and said that it would only get 9 mpg when pushed hard, then bought a Ford GT and almost boasted that it got 4 mpg during track time.
Oh well. The show is popular and he's obviously making enough money at it to afford a great car.

yeah, didn't take me two hours to download .. But it was a pretty cool video.
And, I don't think they were trying to meaure the performance of the car per se, because other vehicles can probably do it too .. I think the point that they actually had an Apache out there TRYING it was the cool part.

The whole point of TG is to be interesting / informative / funny and light hearted at it! Hence why they supercharged an old jag, added nitrous etc and then tried to get the same speed as an harrier jump jet on an aircraft carriers runway (failed, the car felw off the end of the runway and sunk!)
The Toyota pickup had the following done to it : (bear in mind the only tools they are allowed to use to get it going are a 7/16 spanner and a can of WD40)
Left on the beach for 2 days with the tide going in and out (buried it in silt) Started after 5 minutes
Crashed into a tree at 50mph (started no problem)
Caravan dropped onto it (bent it a bit)
Set on fire (completely gutted the interior, but it still worked!)
Put on top of an 8 storey building while it was being dynamited (battered it, but it still started!)
After all this, they still have it! More to the point, Toyota have named their new pickup "Invincible" after what TG did to their old one!

Thanx for the info james..well put BTW
I personally think TG is a great show..even though I've only seen bits and pieces.
I grew up on british TV so I'm kinda biased but I think Speed or someone should make an effort to secure the show for us in the states.

Sorry. My Brit friends use that word all the time. I didn't mean to offend anyone and will refrain from using it again.
