While there are people who think they won't move out of showrooms, GM has commissioned the SoCal Speed Shop to make a Chevrolet HHR move 250 mph across the Bonneville salt flats. SoCal is hard at work on the project, having chopped seven inches from an HHR and reshaped the front end.
The plan is to make 1400 hp from a single-turbo Ecotec four, a powerplant similar to that in last season's Ecotec-powered SoCal racers like the Cobalt and belly tank. If all goes well, the HHR will be on the salt in August.
I actually laughed out loud when I read this. With all it's going through why would GM even waste the money to build this thing???? I know to draw attention but as the article says, it's not projected by some (like us) to move out of the showrooms so would this thing do much good??

They really should save that money and put it towards rebates

thats sad, really sad, they have LS's out the whack and Corvette's as aerodynamic as it gets, and they waste their money on the HHR with an Ecotec that wont throw out any torque, why would they waste money on something like this anyway? poor GM...this is actually becoming funny
