Wow they actually did it?! I remember jokes on autoblog about Ford possibly suing. I didn't ever think it would materialize.

If Ford rolled out a F50 pickup like someone mentioned you can bet Ferrari would sue. Even though there is obviously no correlation.

This doesn't surprise me in the least after talking with the owner of Grand Design Mats. He was in court with Ford for using the 'Ford', 'Mustang' and 'Cobra' monikers on his trunk mats, and he swore it was the most unpleasant experience in his life. He made my Saleen mat, but he had to tell Saleen how much he would charge and then they marked it up 33% to sell it to me via a licensing agreement. After the company changed hands he ceased making anything with Saleen on it. The whole name thing is pretty serious business.

 

Reminds me of Ford trying to shut down website that had the name Mustang in it....even though they sold actual mustangs horses and had been doing it for 30 years.
