Engine bogging down--Help!
Engine bogging down--Help!
Hey guys,
I have a 2000 Honda Civic that my wife usually drives. She has been driving my car all summer while I have been driving my Mustang, which leaves the Civic just sitting there. It got a flat tire so I took it to get fixed (it also needed front brakes so I got that done as well). On my way to the mechanic I noticed the engine bogging down at idle while in park. It would seem the rpms would rev then decrease in a three second pattern. I thought it might be because it has been sitting for so long. I told the mechanic but he couldn't find an issue. On my way home the check engine light came on (the manual says it indicates an issue with the emissions system). Do I just have some dirty fuel? Can this be caused by having the car sit for so long?
