Unhappy Drive your cars (While you can))

I know there are lot of you that really take care of your cars. Don't drive them in rain, worry about every little ding or whatever. Nothing wrong with that. But, after reading this, I say enjoy your cars, that is what they were designed for. To drive and enjoy no matter whether it's a Mustang, Camaro, Challenger or any other make and model. You never know what's going to happen tomorrow.

We had a gentleman (I wont be using his name out of respect to him and his family) come in about 3 1/2 months ago and buy a Camaro. It was a gift to himself. He was being stationed in Afghanistan and asked us to store it one of our clean up bays until he got back in September. Not only did we store it, but the clean up guys washed it once a month to keep it nice and ready.

We just received a phone call from his mother. He was killed while on duty. Obviously she was completely distraught. I can't imagine having your son die in combat and having to call someone you dont know to take care of something like a car you know your son never really had a chance to enjoy.

I am the Internet Sales Manager here and had occasional communications with him through email. Mostly assuring him the car was here and safe with a few light hearted jokes. He was such a a great and amazingly nice guy. I pray his family gets through this as best they can. So many people serve to protect us and we only hear of them as a number on the news. I don't know to honor someone like him for what he did for his country. I guess that's why I am posting this. I'm honored to have met him.

Rest in peace.

I can not imagine the pain his family is going through. I have so much admiration for the young men and women of this country who are putting it all on the line day after day. We are fortunate to live in a country where so many are willing to serve. We as a country suffer great loss everyday when one of these fine American's passes.

I'm a navy man myself, i have also been to afghanistan for 6 months on what we call IA assignments, The government has made so many cut backs that the navy gets sent on shore to help with alittle training.

The only thing these days that really upsets me though is the government trying to change our retirement. basically ditching our 50 percent retirement pay after 20 years for something like a 401k, most of us think its like a swift kick in the *** , but the bill is in congress right now, another one of there ways to make cutbacks and SAVE MONEY, maybe congress needs some paycuts, the guys that retire after 5 years of service and get paid for the rest of there life

Missing my buddy who is over in Afghanistan right now. Praying he comes home safe to us, his wife, and his baby.

Such a sad story Both my parents are retired Marines of 20+ years and I myself am in the Navy reserves so I also undersdtand and have a great appreciation for the military and its members. The 50% retirement bill is a bunch of BS and pisses me off! If this applies to military members it should apply to congress aswell!!!

It is such a sad story and it is true that in a sense you never know what tomorrow will bring. I'll still baby my car as that is what makes me happy however I do live my life by trying to enjoy every moment.

I don't have a reason like military, but I see life as 1 day @ a time now. People who sign up for service are way better than I can ever hope to be, just saying.
1 day I woke up as good as I could be. Next time I woke I was lying in a hosp bed & just woke from my coma. I now know that I may never see another day. Stories are nothing alike, but I have that outlook.

My brother is Airforce and he's been talking about that bill, totally not cool. As I understand it, the government is trying to sell the 401k retirement as some sort of awesome sauce IIRC using around 380 thousand as an example and building it to well over 1 +/- million by the time a retiree hits 65 which works out to needing right around a 8-9% rate of return for that time target
