Dodge will once again offer an individually-numbered, limited edition Daytona styling package on its HEMI-powered Charger R/T sedan, the automaker announced today.
The package was last offered in 2009, but the Charger has been thoroughly redesigned since then. Now, it's optional on both the standard Charger R/T and the upgraded Charger R/T Road & Track trim level.
For 2013, the package adds retro-inspired Satin Black touches to the sedan's hood, roof and rear spoiler and gloss black-accented 20-inch polished alloy wheels. In addition to Daytona Blue, the package will be offered on Bright White, Billet Silver and Pitch Black Chargers. Further setting the sedans apart is a big "Daytona" graphic on the rear quarter panels.
Underneath, the Daytona package includes a performance-oriented 3.06 rear axle ratio, a high speed engine controller, a sport mode for the paddle shifters and uprated steering and suspension. A Daytona Blue engine cover dresses up the sedans' interior bays.
Inside, a Beats audio system is standard, as is black upholstery (leather with the Road & Track trim) and blue stitching and piping. The front seatbacks receive big "Daytona" embroidering, while the dashboard gains unique dark brushed aluminum trim. A Mopar pedal kit finishes out the interior.
On the base Charger R/T, the package adds $2,995 (for a total base price of $32,990), while the more lavishly-optioned R/T Road & Track's premium is $2, 500 (or $36,495 total).
Dodge will make just 2,500 Charger Daytonas available, each of which will be individually numbered with a dash-mounted plaque. The Charger Daytona will go on sale during the first quarter of 2013.

Lets agree to disagree, I think the current gen Taurus is an overrated car. It is a fullsize that has less interior space than my sister's midsize Fusion. For me it's not just the performance its the combination of a V8,RWD, sporty-retro looking muscle sedan. I don't have the stat sheets in front of me but I bet the R/T Charger outperforms the SHO is most performance categories and truthfully IMO is much more comfortable.

Lets not play that game Ford has also had reliability problems. Chrysler does have the better warranty. I'm not expecting to get much support in a mostly Ford dominated forum but for what the cars are right now, not talking reliability or ownership costs or resale value ... the charger is unlike anything else in the American market. I feel the closest real competition is the Cadillac CTS and high end German sport sedans. Though the SHO is cool in it's own way I see it more as an alternative to Japanese luxury cars. Capable, but not as muscular or performance focused as the Cadillac and Germans.

I think Taurus SHO is a great car and it could probably outperform Hemi Charger. However, Charger has that NA V8 and RWD, plus a lot more interior space (I can't believe how small Tauruses interior is).
My personal favorite newer full-size American car is Pontiac G8.

Remember, over here Chargers are very rare (unlike the 300c, which was sold here officially) so they really stand out. I've not even seen the "new" new Charger yet..........which would appear to be a more premium proposition compared to the first gen. The interior looks 10x better, at least.
I love the fact it's RWD....N/A V8.....and looks............unashamedly American. A dieing breed
The Taurus is a good car.........but but nothing about it (looks/engine) lights my fire..........and it looks like it could be from any Asian/European manufacturer
