Wow...the Dodge Challenger...now that's the car...only the Shelby can play with this one...so long Mustang GT...hello Challenger...2007 or 2008...can't wait.... :worship:

The Challenger hasn't officially been approved for production, and there is no definite, official date when it will be released to the public. It's currently a CONCEPT car for car shows not a production vehicle for the public! Come back to reality!

Why Beat up Somthing That May or may not Exist as Shown. The Mustang did not end up Looking like the Concept. It is way too Earlier to make an informed Decision. By the Time the Dodge is released the Stang Could be Quite Different. It's just way too EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The results will probably be similar Ghost, possibly 2-3 tenths of a second faster for the Challenger.

Just one problem though. On the R/T you're about a grand low on the base price and you're a whopping $3,000 shy for the SRT-8. I'm using the Dodge website as my source, btw.

No interest in bashing the Challenger personally, I like what I've seen so far.

actually, the chally is supposed to be closer to 4200 (170lbs more..)

so wouldnt it seem that it may be a tenth or so slower? i mean the thing is certainly bigger than a charger. forgot which thread had that in it, but i read it here and there was a link to another thread that also said it

and also, i think it was at serious wheels that mentioned that the body of the concept was all CF.. is that 4200lb estimate WITH the CF or an estimate of what it would be with say, aluminum panels??

just looking to see if anyone knows...

It seems to me that we should all just be thankful that we have these great cars to debate over once again (assuming the Challenger makes production, which I've no doubt it will).

As to comparisons, hard to compare an existing car with one that doesn't even have a production prototype yet. Let's wait til Dodge builds it, then we can compare apples to apples.

I think we CAN all agree that the Challenger LOOKS great, though.

Agreed, the concept Challenger looks great! I'm interested in seeing, if approved, the production version.

I believe we will see a production version, just not sure when..

Since the Challenger is based on the same platform as the Charger, why shouldn't we expect the same results?
Woah! Woah, woah, WOAH! you're kidding, right?

The 425 hp monster is .5 seconds (if you go by Road & Track's 4.9 second 0-60 test.) slower than our 300hp GT? Wow, now, THAT is something. I Do believe our beloved GT is a Giant killer. Here's to Stangs.

And, for the record, what's the 2006 GTO's 0-60?

It does weights around 4,200 pounds. Heck, my F-150 weights only about 1,000 pounds more.

I love the way the Challenger concept looks and if it goes into production, I'd definitely get one if I had the means.

This is truly disappointing.

I always grew up to think that Stang owners appreciated what they had. The history that was in each and every Mustang they sat in. I thought it did things to people.

Now, I see so many throwing away these amazing performance vehicles (in their own right..), the Mustang GT for something 10K more, that weighs close to 10K more as well.

If memory serves me right, the original Challengers werent all that amazing. This one will be the same. DCX is just trying to pry open Wallets while making up for making the Charger a Not-as-plush 300C.

This is B.S in it's purest form. I know you're stepping up from a V6 Rex, but, take my advice. Forget the Challenger. Buy a GT.

or, just to be an ****..

Wow..that Mustang GT...what a car...only the SRT-8's can hang with that...

Yup. I wonder why Rex hasn't posted a response yet to all his bashing? On a side note...I think its pretty funny you actually sold your car on something that has yet to be made and you've already jumped to conclusions without even knowing the performance data to back it up. YOU ARE A COMPLETE TOOL!!!!!

I guess Rex and I are in the same boat..although I haven't sold mine yet..but i will once the Challenger comes out...when it does the stang will be history. Unless it's a complete abortion of a car and has only an auto. But if it looks like the Concept and comes with a manual I'll be all over it.

Yeah, same here. I love the Challenger too, but I think that him selling his car like 3 years early for something that is still just speculation is a little  don't you think? To top it all off, he goes around claiming that it is better than the Shelby, when there is no actual performance data on the car and he has yet to drive one. IDK I just think its waaaaaay too early to be coming to the conclusion that DC has something better than the Mustang. Seems like talk to me.

Humm all that takes me back to when I was 12 My big brother McGyver takes a 392 Hemi and drops it in his MGB shook too much , so he tried the trunk of a 1966 vw Too Heavy , so it went in a 1955 Ford Al I remember is the look on peoples faces when what they thought was a clucker went by them like a space craft. I do love Cuda'a I had a 1970 and it was sweet , I can relate with those that love the style and handling of other auto's as I would change too Only if it felt right and had the backing ! Enjoy what we have , cause who really knows how long we got ?

I'd have to say IMO the Challenger looks pretty good, I'm just glad to see that American car companies are producing decent looking cars with good HP for a change. I would be tempted to buy a Challenger if Dodge builds it but I don't think I could part with my GT. She will be paid off by then so I might just have to keep her covered for a while (best of both worlds). To be honest, who knows where the auto industry will be in 3 years.
