$8 billion? Wow, that's low.
I still think Ford should buy just the Jeep name. Heck at $8 bill for all of Chrysler, they could pick up Jeep for under $2 bill if they go for just the name and a minimum of capacity. Then they should discontinue everything except the Wrangler, generally reduce the size of the division as far as they can. Then make the Jeep brand their only Domestic SUV wing. Tranistion all Ford, Linc, and Merc-brand SUV nameplates into more carlike crossovers, and maybe do a new larger Jeep based off a discount LR2 platform. Essentially, make Jeep the place to go for Ford domestic SUVs, and turn it into a feeder for up-market Volvo/Land Rover SUVs.

Jeep would probably come with the package. But Dodge has a pretty steady income with the trucks it builds and with it's steady sale of Vipers. I don't see why Mercedes would sell it.
Could just be me though.
Daimler got what they wanted from Mopar (namely cash needed during the period when Mercedes was in trouble a few years ago and the Jeep brand) and now that Mopar is in trouble, they dump them.
The good news is that Mopar has a chance to become American again, if a US company buys them, and they survive...

I'll buy them... lets see. I have 2 dollars and 12 cents in my pocket... think they will take that? or maybe they will sell me the Plymouth name only since they don't use it so i can build real Cuda versions of the new challenger.
Well DC paid $36 billion in ther merger, they listed the "sale price" at $8 billion, nand haven't gotten a bid over $5 billion that I've heard of. At that rate, it'sll be worth 2 dollars and 12 cents by the end of the year.
It's time to roll this wreck of a company into the history books. I mean, have you SEEN the products they've been trotting out recently?
- The Crossfire was a joke that never caught on.
- The Pacifica never sold very well.
- The PT Cruiser is ugly.
- The traditional minivan market is now blowing goats, 'cause after all these years, no one wants to be caught driving an "uncool" minivan anymore; CUVs are taking over from that market.
- The 300 has begun to languish.
- Charger: not bad, but I don't see many on the road - better for fleets and cops.
- Magnum: never really took off. Don't see many of those, either.
- The Nitro is the ugliest looking POS since GM's Aztec abomination, IMHO.
- The Viper has LONG overstayed its welcome.
- The Sebring, well...<yawn>...I saw one once and almost fell asleep at the wheel. Caliber, Avenger...? Who cares?
- The Imperial concept (which they say now that they're gonna build) was a monstrosity of pilfered design cues.
Their only exciting vehicle is the Challenger concept, and it's not even out yet...and even once it is, can you say "niche vehicle"?
I'm sorry, but Chrysler's time has passed...

Hollywood, I wouldn't even say the Chrager's all that good for Cops. Other than the big engine, it has nothing on CV's size and features, or the Chevy's nimbleness and traction.

Oh come on, would be pretty neat
