Das Auto

The wife has finally gotten a decent ride!!!

I am sure most on here dislike German cars, as I have in the past. i am a Mustang lover and not ashamed of it. However, this car is freaking amazing! VW CC VR6 4Motion with paddle shifters and Tiptronic tranny. Way too many little gadgets that I will never get comfortable with.

Thank you. She certainly deserves a fun ride. Special education teachers work long, hard hours!

Personally I think the CC is an awesome looking sedan. It would certainly be something I'd look at were I in the market for such.

We saw one for the first time a little over a month ago - a black one, in the parking lot of the Overland Park Soccer Complex. The only badging was the VW emblem on the nose and in the rear. I had no clue, but, much as we felt when we saw the concept for the 2005 Mustang for the first time, we both were instantly enamored. I researched online and found out what it was, did more research (Consumer Reports, visit a dealership, etc.)

Finally went for a test drive last Saturday, not believing she would pull the trigger - not yet! Boy, was I wrong. A few hours later there was a Teutonic sedan in the garage next to the GT.

I am still reading the owner's manual, discovering things everyday, as is the wife. There is just so much to it: paddle shifters on the steering wheel for the Tiptronic tranny, electric/heated everything, killer Dynaudio stereo system, All-wheel drive, 18 inch Daytona five-spoke wheels.

Sorry to bore anyone, but I am so glad she got something nice for herself.

To me, the CC is a direct replica off the swoopy Mercedes. VW replicated the body shape into a smaller size. The car looks long, but when we pulled it into the garage, we found out it is shorter (length-wise) than her previous car, the Camry! I was shocked. VW did a great job making a small car look big.

Thank you. Now we have the '07 Stang GT for nostalgia/muscle; the VW CC for German/Euro smoothness and technical; and the 2002 Highlander to haul all the soccer stuff all over God's green acres!

I guess that means you'll be in good shape to trade the Highlander in for a 2011 Edge or 2012 Explorer soon.
